Breathtaking mountain views and a very peaceful environment perfect for relaxing! We loved staying at Dunstone Country Estate and Val Du Charron. We can highly recommend the food at Pizza e Vino and The Grill House at Val Du Charron. The Spa at Val Du Charron is also a hidden gem, perfect for relaxing.
First time to Wellington and was impressed with the area however we wanted to go to church on Sunday morning and the council refused us entry because we were non whites which we felt was racist. The name of the church is protestant kerk Hugenote vallei corner of Berg en Dal street and Richeliew...I'm not too sure of the spelling but they turned us away from attending church... very disappointed.
Very scenic, especially the road towards Bainskloof pass. So many wineries, I particularly liked Doolhof and Bosman Family Wines (the estates and the wines) and Val Du Charron is an excellent place to stay (but not the family room because it has no view) but I didn't like their wine. I can also recommend a tour of James Sedgewick Distillery (must book in advance as its only done on certain days). Oude Wellington has a nice restaurant but I unfortunately ran out of time to visit their winery and distillery.
We only spend one night and to participate in the Safari Half Marathon that took place on the 1st of May. Wellington is centrally located to explore the Winelands area. There are some beautiful old buildings in town
Wellington was disappointing -we had hoped to have a few days visiting beautiful wine farms&eating lazy meals under large trees but on visiting tourist information we had very non committal recommendations -all were "nice"(but said in a way that didn't engender confidence).Eventually we decided on Val du charon -unfortunately.We booked ahead but on arriving there was a french tour group in the restaurant with an extremely loud hostess&we couldn't talk to the elderly family friend we had invited. The meal was tastless, steak was tough&although the view was beautiful&the decor appealing the meal was overpriced for the poor quality&mediocre service. We did find a very nice upliftment farm stall with fantastic fruit &enjoyed our visit to wellington dried fruit&seeing Andrew Murrays statue at the church. There are some lovely historic buildings. We left town via Bains pass-well worth doing. If,as we did,you want to visit beautiful wine farms, rather go to Cape town,Franschoek or Stellenbosch.

Val du Charron, what a place. Beautiful situated, overlooking the valley, the mountains, perfect scenery. Very friendly staff, perfect restaurant, wines are excellent. Try the wine tasting, with a stunning view. We read some “negative” reviews about the rooms, we can only say, we had a perfect room! A place we certainly would like to visit again and recommend to everybody visiting Wellington.

Fabulous hosts. They really took care of us and made our holiday in Wellington fantastic. The house we rented was complete, spacious and modern. 5 star we would say. Close to tranquility of the country side but also 3 minutes from town with restaurants and great wineries.

The entire house is beautifully furnished & very comfortable. Our bedroom was most attractive and spacious and the bed large & comfortable, I had the best night's sleep I had had in weeks. The breakfast was unusual and interesting and very tasty. The bathroom was large and provided with all the extra's one could hope for (soap, shampoo, lotions, towels). One of the best things about Wellington Country House is the view from the deck - looking out over the Hawequa Mountains one could easily forget that you are in a town, it feels a lot more peaceful and closer to nature than one would expect. Our hosts (Dick & Mara) were the best! Very attentive and helpful with information about the town which helped make the entire experience richer and more pleasant.
