Hi, Halal food is not easy to get but there are places .
Here is a link to the full halal food guide in Kyoto: https://www.havehalalwilltravel.com/authentic-halal-food-kyoto-japan
We also found a shawarma place run by an Arab guy in Kyoto's markets area. I cant remember exactly where it was but it was surprising.
In terms of shopping there are plenty of places , I found the second hand market really good there. High quality and verified products from major brands are available there. Japanese macha snacks & sweets are quite popular items to purchase as well.

Don't forget to visit Gion corner to view cultural activities . You can purchase tickets on the spot by arriving 30min before the event starts.

Speak some sentences first in Japanese before you asking questions in foreign language, if you not going to a big city (Tokyo, Osaka, etc. ) It’s a way to hold a someone local for helping.

There are subway/metro trains between those two destinations. Google map will help massively if you can get a sim card or wifi device.

Ride the Narita Express. I think it stops at Shinjuku, from there is only one or two stations away on the Yamanote Line. If doesn't stops at Shinjuku, in Tokyo Sta. take the Yamanote Line. Shibuya is about 25 mins from Tokyo Sta.

1st Tip... I would suggest you purchase an ICOCA card. You can use this card on all trains, busses etc. You can buy at the station or at the airport and just add $2000 yen to the card. You can top them up at any station. It saves you trying to figure out things buying seperate tickets to here and there. You just tap on and tap off.

2nd Tip.. Take Cash. Cash is still king in Japan
