Colorado: places to stay as a family, medium budget

Hello, I’m traveling with my family from Texas to Colorado on dec 29th - Jan 3th. I’m still deciding on staying in Colorado Springs or the towns near to west side of Denver. My kids and wife have never seen the snow and I will like them to have the most fun out of this winter trip. Moreover, I’ve have checked the ski resorts around ( keystone, winter park, Breckenridge) but they are to expensive! I will like advice on this. Thanks for your time.

If you're wanting to see snow and wanting to stay at a medium budget, Colorado is not the place to go. If you go to Taos, NM, which is Northern New Mexico, you can ski for a fraction of the price at Sipapu Ski Resort. Kids 19 and under ski free and the adult price is $55. I've been skiing there for 15 years and grew up skiing Red River. Colorado during that time period is outrageous. If you go to Taos, stay at the Sagebrush Inn! Very affordable, heated pool, fantastic free breakfast, and you're close to 4 different ski resorts and lots of snow during that time.
