New York city stay

I will be in New York in Feb for at least a week. What is a good area to stay which is kind of central to everything. Is Midtown Manhattan alright? Cheers, from Australia.

You will be cold!!!!!
Midtown is great for train and subways.
Massive amount of tourists.
Lonely at night

If you can try to get out to Soho or West Village.

Probably the area between Lexington Avenue and Seventh Avenue, 60th Street to 42nd St. This will put you within walking distance of many attractions and also Times Sqare. If you will be going to the Broadway theater, you should try to stay closer to that district, midtown-west, because it's very difficult to find a cab after the shows.

We enjoyed our stay at the Rockfeller Hotel one block from Grand Central and just east of 5th. Easy access to busses uptown to museums, Rockfeller Center etc-about a 15 minute walk to theatre district. Lots of restaurants on 45th. Prepare for cold and winds whipping through crosstown sstreets

Want to save a little money, $100 or more per night? Stay in Jersey City and take the PATH train into the city. Most of the hotels are right on the waterfront with great views of the city and the train is only about a 10 min ride and can put you near the World Trade center site or 34th & 6th I believe. Just a thought!

By 4:20 you can go to Washington D.C.
