Please could we have recommendations of the best area to stay in Malta for a couple. We would like somewhere to go for dinner and drinks in the evening/daytime that we can walk around.

Thanks

Hello, I would recommend staying in the capital city of Valetta. It is in the center of Malta and also is the main hub for all the buses. It has plenty of unique and comfortable boutique hotels and far away from the construction and noise of busier towns such as Sliema and St Julians. I hope you enjoy your trip to my country!

I agree with Luke. Valletta is full bars and pubs and restaurants, from expensive to reasonably priced. Most are frequented by the locals. Should you want to visit popular nightclubs, I suggest Paceville in St.Julians. It's only a half hour away by bus from Valletta. Other option would be Gzira which is next to Sliema but accommodation is usually less expensive. Have fun.

It depends a lot on what kind of accomodation you're into. Boutique hotels and converted palazzi are found not only in Valletta but also in areas around Rabat, the Three Cities and also in south east villages like Zejtun. Non of the above mentioned is exactly central but in Malta every nook and cranny is easily accessible by bus or rented car. In areas like Sliema and St.Julians you'll find the big hotels which are usually quite pricey and overcrowded.

I came to this post to suggest them The Plaza Regency - St. Juliens (sea view, with a pool) because I got a reservation there for June. I couldn t find better options at Valletta (too expensive). I ve read that Valletta area is too quiet after everything closes at noon. I m going alone without car, planning to use only public bus. Should I consider to change my hotel?

Hello Priscila, The Plaza is well located in the Sliema area, which is touristic but also locally inhabited. The hotel is near to many walking distance destinations. A walk along the promenade and gardens(which are right in front of the hotel) is pleasurable, especially in the evening in June where the heat is still bearable. Half an hour walk from your hotel would take you to Paceville, which is the main nightlife on the islands...nightclubs restaurants galore! From Hotel to Valletta a bus will take half an hour in moderate traffic...longer in heavy traffic. Sliema restaurant prices vary from reasonably priced to high end with all sorts of Menus. I suggest you always go to Valletta by bus to reach any destination on the island....it's the easiest way. You should visit Gozo, the sister island....a half hour pleasant ferry trip. You need more info let me know.... Enjoy!....

Hello, I would say Buggiba is the option, cheap food and drinks, a boulevard to walk, night life and some beaches to swim.

Hi. you can tell me properties that can be booked for more than a month. And what would be the best place to stay where there is more public transportation for my comfort.

Good morning Paola, if you're Italian, maybe you'd want to explain yourself in italian.
