Money taken from my account 5 months early

I am interested to know if anyone else has experienced this. I had asked https://Booking.com for an explanation a few weeks ago (pre coronavirus) they have never replied. I booked a hotel in Barcelona for 5 days in May. The hotel could take the payment the day before we arrived. I noticed in December that they took the full amount in November and neither the hotel or https://Booking.com have replied to me. Has anyone else experienced this. it looks that that money is now gone.
