Coronavirus cancellations

I have a non-refundable (ie. already paid) booking for a hotel and today I notice it says 'Due to regional travel restrictions, you can now cancel this reservation for free' - I just want to be sure, does this mean we will receive a full refund if we cancel? Has anyone already done this? I can't find anything online to explain and I've dropped a message to customer service but they may take a few days to respond given everything that's going on!
