Travelling from St. Julianʼs to Malta

Hi, does anyone recommend a good & reliable care hire company but reasonably priced. It is for July 2020 and we are staying in St Julian's but we want to explore all that Malta has to offer. Unless there is an easier way to get around?

An easier and cheaper way to get around is the Explorer Card of Malta transport. With this card you have access to unlimited travel for a certain period of time. Public transport is reliable in Malta and cheaper than rental cars. Right now the most frequented rental company is Goldcar. However, an alternative to a rental car is car sharing with GoTo.This is the carsharing company in Malta and Gozo. You can book online. When in Gozo you can also rent a scooter right in the Mgarr habour. There is also Hertz in the Ferry building and Avis and Budget on the mainroad opposite the terminal building. However, for the short distance of 1.3 km mentioned above you need no car at all.

Thank you so much for the info that’s very kind and informative! I will certainly look into the Explorer card. Would you know where I could get one? Are they available in local shops?

As far as I remember you can get the Explorer card right at the airport at the counter of Malta transport. They will also inform you which bus to take in order to reach St. Julians. Of course you can browse the website of Malta transport before you reach here and get some knowledge about this small country of 3 islands.

Hi I have just come back from Malta staying in Sliema, we booked the Hop on Hop off buses, for two of us we got, the North Tour, the South Tour & going to the three ancient cities in an old bus for 70 Euros, we spent one day on the South Tour one on the North & another with the Vintage Bus. We managed to see all the sights and have 3 days to relax around the pool. We booked our Taxi from the airport and return with https://Booking.com they were clean on time and we received a 10% discount as we booked with https://booking.com .
You can walk from St Julians to St Pauls to St Georges, they are next door to each other some have little beaches and some towns have public baths, we paid 10 Euros a day per person at the pool.
Have a lovely trip, we certainly did.

Without a rental car life is easier in Malta. If no bus is available just walk until the next bus is coming. Do not forget to take the ferries. There is one from Sliema to Valletta, one from Malta to Gozo and of course from Malta and Gozo alike to Comino. The habour cruise with captain Morgan is also part of any sightseeing programme.
