Has anybody been to Mt. Fuji during the summer? My trip to Tokyo is July of this year, so Im planning on renting a car and driving to Mt, Fuji for a few days. How was your experience during this season? Do you recommend going to onsens in the area?

Summer weather in Japan sometime from June to September depends on the location. I prefer to go to Sapphoro during summer. Driving to Mt. fuji is good but they have a very efficient train system there either JR or Local Line. It's more convenient and will give you more time to visit some other places of interest. Perhaps even much cheaper, too.

I had a trip in Kawaguchiko 3 years ago during summer, July. Kawaguchiko is one of five lakes around Mt. Fuji. There are some activities i.e. ropeway, bicycling, waking around the lake and you can find onsens place with Mt. Fuji view. There are many sightseeing places for taking wonderful photos. However, the weather in July is quite hot. You should keep sipping water.

I went there from Tokyo by bus and then took the local bus for travelling there. And if you like more exciting activities, there is a park, Fuji Q Highland where you can take roller coaster and enjoy the view of Mt. Fuji as the same time.

Thank you for your response. How much was the bus, and how long did it take. I’m planning on going to Mt Fuji Safari Park while I’m there. Do you recommend it?

The ticket costs about 2000 JPY per person and it takes about 3 hr. from Tokyo to there.
You can find the time table and more detail here => https://highway-buses.jp/course/kawaguchiko.php

I've never been Safari Park, so I can't give you more info. Sorry about that.
