Full refund due to COVID19

Hi,

I am cancelling my reservation due to the COVID19.
Are we able to get full refunds? AirBnB are refunding guests' their money back, is Bookings.com doing the same?

I have been calling for 2 weeks to cancel my reservation. I originally selected the no refund option for our stay. I have not been able to talk to anyone directly due to the world crisis. In light of the COVID 19 pandemic https://Booking.com should waive all cancellation fees unless they prefer people spread the virus at the hotels. I urge anyone who does not get a refund to write call and complain about https://Booking.com's policy during a crisis

In the process as well, thinking about spending a few more bucks on our attorney & just give it up to there office, they love this stuff. https://Booking.com should be ashamed.

Hi Gregory! This a ridiculous rant! You are blaming booking dot com for the pandemic! Get real! Booking dot com is a marketing tool. That is all! Booking dot com displays great photos and photos that are often misleading and descriptions of rooms that are often provided by the Resort (and not fact checked by booking dot com). They provide a service as a "go-between"! You must come to grips with what is going on now. My suggestion- cancel your confirmed reservation now. Then dispute the charge that you get hit with with your insurance company. Me thinks that you might get some relief when the Travel Industry negotiates a bale out with the USA. This will take years and years of negotiation. You can also negotiate with the Travel Insurance that you purchased .You did purchase it, didn't you? If you did, then you will soon find out that it does not cover "pandemics"!
Stay healthy! Wash your hands! Remain at home. Drink liberally! Think Hawaiian!

I'm not blaming them for the virus. I'm saying that they can make an exception to their policy in light of the pandemic. Other companies and organizations are doing just that. what's "real" is what people all over the world are experiencing as a result of the COVID 19 virus. Being socially responsible is what should be expected during times like these.

I am having the same problem. I was supposed to arrive at the property in LA today. The property has offered to change non refundable booking to September, but I now think I should be able to get a refund as they can't provide the service I purchased. No reply from https://Booking.com, despite 2 or 3 emails to their help centre.

Was your booking non refundable?

Yes, but they made an exception. https://Booking.com called the hotel and the hotel sent me an e-mail to confirm the refund.

I've been emailing the hotel and they have flat out said NO and they would offer me a 6 month credit, im travelling from Australia (not just down the road) so a credit is not suitable and who knows when we are allowed to travel again, very disappointed at their non compassion in this world crisis :( i'm not giving up that easy and think it's disgusting they can just take people's money in times like these and not refund (im not cancelling just for the sake of it, I can't get to USA) :(

What is the phone to dial them, I left them several messages and did not reply to booking. They say to call one to the accommodation, check the hotel and they tell me that I can only make the change through booking. They'll throw the ball at each other.

I am also forced to cancel my reservation due to the Corona Virus situation. I have been calling but cannot seem to reach anyone to discuss my cancellation and refund. Where do you call to talk to someone?

I called the hotel as suggested on the booking site. They really wanted to give me a gift certificate on half and a refund on half. The problem is I live outside of seattle and this is not a easy trip to plan. The plan was to stay in Nashville part of the time and in Kentucky part of the time to go to the Derby. The Derby was postponed until Sept 5. I live far away and I just can't hop on a plane and go. The Car-19 virus doesn't help either. So the boutique hotel did do a full refund they said, I believe them, but the full amount of what we paid on booking is short 109.00...Humm. We'll see when the statement arrives. They must be busy, so I'll cut a break for a bit. I think it should wash out, if not I will go back to my credit card company with complaint.

Thanks, Garnette for your help! I also have to cancel my booking for the Derby - there really was no non-refundable option available!! I'll also talk to the hotel and see if we can make a deal. :)

The derby tickets at this time are not refundable , I tied to put them up for sale many times and it says my phone doesn’t match what is on file, so I updated it in my profile. I go back and try to sell again and of course my phone doesn’t match. I think Ticketmaster is a screw in with me. I hope they have to cancel then everybody gets their money back.

Hi Garnette! How are things going, for you? I think that I would take that "half and half" option because half of nothing is better than nothing, usually!
