New visa restrictions

Hi there ,
Me and my wife are due to arrive in Hanoi on April 2nd then get a taxi to ha giang and hire a bike for 2 weeks doing the loop.
We feel the whole trip is hanging by a thread as it is but are at a loss with the new visas.
I understand previously we didn’t need one as the trip was less than 15 days... that then changed to them cancelling the visa waiver meaning you have to apply... that has now changed to I’m hearing there not processing e visas for people from uk or countries they basically don’t want people to visit from .
How can we even go if that’s the case ? How will we know if they’re considering our case ?
Even though it would stop us from going predictably we’ve been told were not covered by visa refusals on insurance , even though it’s not really the same thing.
Any light shed on this would be appreciated thankyou

Same situation. Due to travel next week from the UK. Looking to cancel anything where we had the option. Tours (Halong Bay cruise) gave refund of most of our deposit, and said we can reschedule for the remainder - even though we had gone past their cancellation period.

I think the UK will follow other European nations soon and have stronger lockdown. Hopefully that's enough for FCO travel advice to change, triggering travel insurance/airlines to refund.

Hi Richard, we had an organised tour booked to Ha Giang, starting 28 March for 4 nights. The tour was cancelled by the operator 2 days ago as Ha Giang is not allowing tourists in for the foreseeable future... so unfortunately you may need to change your plans.

Hi there! We are currently staying in hue. Visiting the imperial palace. Every restaurant/bar in the tourist area is open and welcoming. We’ve experienced some hesitation and downright refusing when we wanted to drink and eat outside the tourist area. Hope this helps you! Ps will the train company still let you travel in the sleeper? We are planning on getting to the north tomorrow! Grtz Marlin

Contact whoever you booked your flight through, and see what they can do. The plane may still be flying on it’s scheduled route as technically Vietnamese nationals can still fly into Vietnam, but obviously your flight ticket should be cancelled as you can no longer travel to Vietnam.
