How safe is to travel to Vietnam with corona virus?

Blocked by Booking 5th times, after 19 days, about 320 comments from so many travelers, 22,300 views.
I was blocked again for violating Booking's Travel Community Guideline.
Perhaps I re-edited several posts more than 3 times.
I have thought that whether I should re-post, this is a test of patience. This is the last time I will post, if I am blocked again, I will stop with Booking.
Anyone who cannot find me here, can find me in couchsurfing, Hanoi events, I am always active there with at least 2 free events for travelers there, you can search "Story telling: History of VIETNAM - Wars!" and "Adventurous Walk From The Oldest Bridge of Hanoi".

So what I have posted today:

Currently we have following cases throughout Vietnam, these are new cases.
Hanoi: 4 cases, all Vietnamese
Ninh Binh: 1 case, Vietnamese
Quang Ninh: 4 cases, 1 Icelander and 3 British, all transferred to a hospital in Hanoi for treatment and monitoring
Hue: 1 case, British
Da Nang: 2 cases, British
Lao Cai: 2 cases, 1 Mexican and 1 British
All foreigners are in the age of 58 to 74.
14 cases above are now in hospitals, hundreds of F1, F2 & F3 contact levels are in quarantine at hospitals and centralized quarantine area. Thousand of F4 & F5 are quarantined at home.

Currently VN government has not decided to quarantine travelers from France/Germany/UK/Spain or Switzerland. Only Italy is in the list of Europe countries. For hotel acceptance for French/Germany/UK citizen, I only have the information as I called hotel/hostel directly in Ha Long. For other parts of the country, I have no information. But once the government has not made any decision on France, most hotels will accept French guests as normal.

So for the news that Ha Long is closed or not, I confirm that Ha Long is not closed. It is open and operated, I have called 1 big hotel, 1 hostel, 1 cruise, everything is running. Yes, there is some restriction in traffic as local authority block several parts of the town where they found the confirmed cased have been stayed or close contact F1 cases have stayed. 3 hotels and 18 boats are quarantined. The hostel lady said that several other hotels or hostels do not receive British, French & Germany travelers but her hostel still receive all travelers. The big hotel I called also said the same. Anyway, call before you come. Ha Long Boat Wharf and Tuan Chau Boat Wharf are open normally.

Cat Ba, I have no news but feedback from several travelers telling us that it is closed. I also have news that Ly Son, a small island in the centre of Vietnam is also closed. Let's wait for more updates from public information sources.

Madness. So much good information lost to cyberspace...

To recap, my hotel in Da Nang has requested a photo of my passport to prove I have not been to an infected area plus they also request I wear a mask and sanatize my hands on arrival before completing the check in process.

They have also stopped taking new bookings.

They had not contacted me to inform me of any of this, rather I contacted them to inquire if everything was going ok.

I’d suggest people contact their hotels a week before to be sure Of their situation before travelling.

Just for your information: we are in ho-chi-minh since 2 days and the German embassy just imformed us that our existing Visa might get suspended.
We wanted to go to the Mekong Delta tomorrow. FUTA bus only accepted our booking After seeing Passport + Visum + health certification from airport and told us that it might be that they cant guarantee that they can Take us backe to hcmc if the Situation changes. We cancelled our trip because of that.

Hello Adele,
I can see this on webside https://vietnam.travel/things-to-do/information-tr....

Vietnam has temporarily suspended visa exemptions for citizens of the UK, EU, South Korea and Italy, as well as other countries with more than 500 confirmed cases of COVID-19. With special exceptions only, all travellers arriving from and who have transited through mainland China, Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk within the past 14 days will be refused entry to Vietnam at this time.

How I can understand to this? I have already applied for e-visa 2 weeks ago and I got it. What does it mean that I cannot come to Vietnam? (departure 27th of March).

Thank you, Veronika

Germany
-

Hi Veronika, i do Not know that but i can say that it is just a lot more trouble to go from A to B in vietnam right now. Same for finding homestays/Hotels. A lot of locals seem to be a little bit afraid of europeans right now. And this is understandable.

Vietnam
-

Hi Veronika,
Visa exemption means free entry visa, meaning Vietnam does not grant 15-day free entry visa for passengers from UK, France, Germany, South Korea, Italy. Anyone wants to come to Vietnam within 15 days now have to apply for visa. You have the visa, you just go. You can check that with your hotel/hostel ... and Czech embassy in Vietnam.

Norway
-

You can go, you have to fill out a health declaration when you arrive. Wear mask for protecting and for respect.
Some places are closed, like Sapa from today. It is to keep tourist out and locals safe, so totally understand it. No worries, still lots to do and see')
Many Hostels and Hostels open, many closed. See this as a Nice time to visit Vietnam, not that many tourist. Take care, wssh hands and desinfect. Safe travel :)

Hello Adele,

I'm following this topic of yours already for a few weeks now and it would be a shame to lose the valueble information which you share with us.

Is there also another option to stay in contact besides couchsurfing? I don't like to pay for that app as I'm not using it, only to stay in contact with you regarding the information. And I'm travelling to Hanoi on the 27th of March, so I would like to stay up-to-date till I leave.

New Information on this side for travellers from countries with over 500 cases:
https://vietnam.travel/things-to-do/information-tr...

"Vietnam has temporarily suspended visa exemptions for citizens of these countries:

South Korea, Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Sweden, United Kingdom, Denmark, Finland, Norway.

Citizens from other countries with more than 500 confirmed cases of COVID-19, or more than 50 new cases per week, will be denied entry to Vietnam at this time. "

Hi Marcel,
This sentence is not correct "Citizens from other countries with more than 500 confirmed cases of COVID-19, or more than 50 new cases per week, will be denied entry to Vietnam at this time."
The Vnese update I have, as posted by Vnese public media at 11 pm yesteday: Về nhập cảnh, Ban Chỉ đạo đã thảo luận và thống nhất kiến nghị với Thủ tướng Chính phủ, Chính phủ tạm dừng miễn thị thực đơn phương với các nước thuộc Liên minh châu Âu (EU) và Anh; với những nước ngoài EU có trên 500 ca nhiễm hoặc có trên 50 ca nhiễm tăng trong một ngày cũng đề nghị tạm dừng; từ chối cấp thị thực cho người nước ngoài vào Việt Nam nếu có các triệu chứng, yếu tố dịch tễ theo quy định."

As i wrote earlier, i and every other non-vietnamese citizen was forced to leave Cat Ba earlier today (just to recap). It is impossible to get there at the moment, and all hostels and hotels are closed by order of the police.

I arrived in Ha Long earlier and walked around for a while, and later interrogated the receptionist at the hotel I am now staying at.
It is very quiet in the city, and a large number of stores and restaurants are closed. Many are still open, but the closed ones are noticeable when walking around.

There are not many people out and about, and according to the receptionist over 10.000 of the city’s residents have left. Some of the boat tours and cruises have been cancelled, but I had no issue booking a one day tour at my hotel, and will be going tomorrow.

As it looks right now, there doesn’t seem to be any reason not to come to Ha Long, as long as you of course confirm registrations and such beforehand, as Adele said.

Hello to the Forum,
my girlfriend and I have been in Bali for less than a week after a three-day stopover in Singapore. Our flight to Ho Chi Minh would be in a week. We planned a two-and-a-half-week trip through Vietnam and even an e-visa (since we wanted to be in the country for 17 days). Domestic flights and onward flights from Hanoi to Kuala Lumpur after 17 days are already booked. Today, the message from our hotel in Hoi An asking us to cancel our booking due to the Corona virus. How would you handle it now? Should we reconsider the whole trip?

Greetings

Pls check with your hotel if Hoi An is closed or not, if not, stay in Danang, book taxi to go to Hoi An, and go back Da Nang. Things may change a lot in 1 week, now it even change by hour. Perhaps 1 week later, you can book in Hoi An again.

Hi Adele, hello again from Nha Thrang, we are planning to go to Phu Quoc vía plane from Cam Ranh, do you think we can board a domestic flight? should we call the airline to double check? We both have visas here already for a 30 day stay and have been here since the 1st of March, we are German. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavi...

P.s we are alone in a boutique style city hotel since 3 days, the owner was asked to go home by her mum and close the hotel due to the virus but she is ok with us staying there alone, her staff quit though because they are scared of foreigners

Hi Adele,
Thank you so much for all the great information you are providing. My girlfriend and I have our flights booked to Vietnam and traveling around Vietnam next week through the beginning of April. We will be traveling around Ho Chi Mihn, Phu Quoc, Da Nang, Ho Ann, Hanoi, and Ha Long Bay.
We will be flying from Seattle, Washington, USA, through Tapei, to Ho Chi Mihn.

Vietnam

From end of last week, Vietnam has quite a number of cases confirmed, which is considered as very alarming by the government. I don't know what it will be in coming days till the day of your departure. Here and there we have read unconfirmed feedback from travelers that several touristic destination do not receive guests. Cannot confirm anything now. Let's wait for more update from the government and other public information sources.

Vietnam
-

I have a feeling that travelers are not encouraged to travel in Vietnam, currently. Do Sapa, Cat Ba, Hoi An stop taking tourists? I have no information and cannot find it on public media. How about Hanoi? All these locations have confirmed cases, and the government keep on advising people to stay at home, not to travel. If you can delay, then delay it. Even me, I have changed what I told people, as I just realized that now. Please think catefully, check with your Embassy. If you really want to come, then come, there are still other places to discover.

United States of America
-

Thank you for all the information in this thread! We just left Cat Ba today, and were among the last foreign travelers still there. If there was a formal evacuation yesterday, no one told us (we were staying at a sweet but disorganized small hotel). There is no central source of information I could find. Many of the buses out of Cat Ba are now suspended (Good Morning Cat Ba stopped all buses), and some of the other organizers talked about police stops & the ferry no longer running. The bus we took to Haiphong only had locals on it & dropped us at the hydrofoil, not the ferry, but went uneventfully otherwise.

I don’t think it would be possible, or much fun, to go to Cat Ba now if it’s still in anyone’s plans! Most of the tours & activities aren’t running, and very few restaurants or services are open.
My sister & I are long-term nomads, so fingers crossed that things in the South & our ongoing flights will still run smoothly!

Thank you for all of your updates Adele. To be honest, the US Embassy's information is a bit outdated on their page and I find the information here and on other forums more useful. I have been following your information for a few weeks. My study trip departure is coming up next Monday on March 16th. I think I will give it another few hours or maybe one more night but I am leaning towards canceling. I am supposed to be in Hanoi for over a month and it just seems too precarious at the moment. I have been to Vietnam 3 times in the past and loved it. Unfortunately the number 4 is unlucky and that seems to be the case for me this time. It will be a big loss of money but my gut tells me it's the right thing to do.

Anyways, thanks for all your help. I'll check back here again when the business day starts again in Vietnam to see if there are any more updates. .

In Hoi An now, definitely noticed a difference in attitude from people. I think a lot of people are paranoid as the last lot of infections on the flight were mainly tourists. It’s quieter and a few places closed for tours and stuff, but we checked into our hotel no problem. They just asked us about where we had been the last few weeks, but we hadn’t been in Europe. I suspect if we had been in Europe then they might have been stricter. Hearing from other travellers and operators that places such as Ha Long Bag and Sapa are closing down and some tour operators, but I’ve not been up there yet to see personally. We planned to head up to Hanoi over the next two weeks, we are going to see how the next few days go and then decide maybe to head back down south and into Cambodia where they seem more relaxed. Will keep updated

This morning, I check with my friend in Da Nang. So he sent me a list of restaurants, hotels, golf resort, bar, pub, that the two British confirmed cases have been to within 4 days, a long list of 2 pages, and with the high alert and caution from local citizen, the city gives the feeling of closure, but actually not. Outside these quarantined locations as above, life is still on as usual.
The same story is happening in Hue and Hoi An where there are other 3 cases, these two city and town are smaller, hence the impact looks bigger.
The government still keep on asking people not to travel and stay at home if possible.

Hi Adele,
Thank you for all the information on this. My travel partner and I arrived in Hanoi last Friday (flying from the UK and transferring in Bangkok), we were waived through the medical declaration section at the airport and have so far spent a day in Hanoi, two days on a boat trip around Halong Bay and a day in Hue- we are currently on our way to Hoi An. We’re due to flying Vietnam Airlines from Da Nang to Ho Chi Minh on Thursday evening, and then (within the same airline) from Ho Chi Minh to Phenom Penh on Sunday. The airline has so far not cancelled our flights. Do you think that the visa situation with UK travellers will affect our plans, especially with regards to the internal flight?

Vietnam
-

HI George,
Critically thinking, the numbers of confirmed cases in UK is a lot smaller than those of France, Spain and Germany. As 8/14 recent cases in Vietnam are British and the flight was from London, local people are some what stressed, maybe. For official regulations, we have none about quarantining or restricting UK travelers or EU travelers, except Italy. The latest restriction we have is the suspension of free entry visa for 8 European countries, which does not impact to current travelers who have been to Vietnam before that rule. On Vietnam Airlines, the national airline of Vietnam, there is no news on such restriction to UK travelers.

Good news, I have check with 2 big hotels in Ha Long (Vin Pearl / Novotel) and 1 homestay in Sapa (Pi's Boutique Sapa Hotel). Of course there are quarantine and restriction area due to the fact that the confirmed cases have been there. In Sapa, the two hotels are now in quarantine are Silk Path Hotel & Topas Ecolodge. In Ha Long, The Wyndham, Thai Son Hotel & Back Dang Hotel are in quarantine. Today everything is almost back to normal for the rest hotels and restaurants.
Besides, 1 minute for advertisement as lady of Pi's Boutique Sapa Hotel is so nice. 2 days ago in Sapa, people were stressed when finding out 2 confirmed cases, but now things have sorted out, all others, who had contacts with 2 confirmed cases, has had negative test results. Thanks to that, everything is almost back to normal. The lady also shared that her hotel provide free masks for guests, she maintains very well cleaning and hygiene, having hand santizer. You can find her hotel on https://Booking.com. Pi's Boutique Sapa Hotel

Dear Adele, me and my partner will be flying from Frankfurt to Hanoi on April 16th, and from there we will continue to Da Nang or our destination Hoi An. At the moment, the situation is very tense in Germany and other countries in Europe, and it seems to be getting worse every day. Visa has been compulsory since yesterday. It is our concern, as we did not book a package holiday, but via Expedia (is only a mediator) and unfortunately only after the booking of Expedia's bad reputation for reimbursement, etc., we unfortunately do not know how exactly we should proceed. For example, is it better to wait and see how the situation develops and apply for an e-visa 1 or 2 weeks before departure, or should we cancel and hope that Expedia will eventually pay us back? And if we do come, as it looks and as you read in the Forum, we are not really welcome because many hotels, restaurants, excursions for Europe are cancelled. I can also understand that people are scared, but it would still be super annoying to arrive in Vietnam and they all make a bow around us and maybe we would have to spend all the time in the hotel (if the hotel still lets us in). We would be very grateful if you could give us a recommendation or tips on how to proceed. Love, Sarah

Vietnam
-

Hi Sarah,
3 questions to solve:
1. Expedia reimbursement policy, if you can get back money, get it back, book on another website, like Booking.
2. Should you go or not? April 16th, more than 1 month from now, so many things will change, for example if Germany cannot control the situation of the nCov outbreak, your country will be listed as epidemic area by VN government and will be stopped visa or quarantine 14 days like Italy. Or if VN's situation got worse and we cannot control, you don't want to come. Whatever will happen in 1 month, so please wait more to decide. Applying for evisa is quick, several days is done, so you can easily apply at the beginning of April.
3. Scare of European, locals here they are stressed at the number of confirmed cases increase fast within a few days, and 9/15 cases are foreigners, that's why people are scared, but too much is not good. In coming days, they will be calmer and things will be back to normal one by one.

Hi Peter, it was pretty normal. Some bars / restaurants / cafes are closed but Honestly not that many places. Also didn't hear of any hotels that did not accept customers. They are really happy if someone shows up and often offer u upgrades for free because there are not a lot of tourists here right now.

No attractions closed right now as of my knowledge.

Hello, Adele, my friend and I are now in Can Tho and are planning to take the plane tomorrow (which has already been booked) to Con Dao. Our landlady says now that Con Dao won't take any more tourists. Don't know what to do or where to travel safely anymore. Our landlady advised us to fly to Phu Quoc. We have a total of 16 days left and we wanted to travel all over the country.

Vietnam
-

Right, from 15:00 today Mar. 10 until further notice, Con Dao stops receiving foreigners to the island for tourism. They are afraid if the nCov breaks out on the island, their limited healthcare resources are not able to cope with the disease and it would cause risk for tourists. This suspension applies also to local tourists.
Some other choices: Phu Quoc, very nice island, Nha Trang, nice beach, then Danang & Hoi An. Hopefully, by the date you go to Danang & Hoi An, the current restriction is almost over.

Hey Adele / guys,
first, thank you so much for your frequent updates and quick answers. I think this creates A TON of value for all the people being in or going to Vietnam.
I was going to fly to Vietnam on 21st of March, so merely two weeks from now (and I'm coming from Cologne, close to the largest German outbreak so far). Arriving in HCMC, then four weeks until I leave from Hanoi on April 18th. I applied for a standard visa at the embassy, but I am still awaiting confirmation on if I am allowed to get in.

But now with all the news here, I'm wondering if it will be any fun going to Vietnam in this "critical" phase. It wouldn't be half the experience with empty hostels, buses not taking you and attractions closed. Also I can't expect any reimbursements from my flights.
Now I'm struggling to decide - go or not go? Any guesses from you and others how rapidly the restrictions will fall throughout the next two / three weeks?

Hi Adele, we are from Belgium leaving on 19/3 to Hanoi. Our plan was to go to Cat Ba, Ninh Binh, Mai Chai and then Hoi An. Flights between Hanoi and Hoi An have been booked a while ago with no flexibility... I'm dissapointed reading that Cat Ba closed down and Tam Coc as well :( as it was a big part of our trip. I read that Thailand doesn't have the strict regulations like lockdowns as Vietnam does, so I'm now thinking about rebooking our mail flight and come back next year. If I were sure things would loosen up a bit in 1 week I would take my chances, but if I read that Vietnamese are scared from Europeans then I wonder if this would be like a 'holiday' feeling, if you know what I mean? Thank you so much already for all of the above info you gave us! Ellen

Vietnam
-

Cat Ba is close, but Ha Long is open, an alternative. Tam Coc - Ninh Binh is close, but Trang An - Ninh Binh is open, Trang An is very very nice. Mai Chau is ok. Hoi An is still opened, some restrictions but fine. Exactly people are too alert, so they are stressed. Several hotels/restaurants/cruises are quarantined. The rest are back to normal now, or almost, and in a few days, they will be ok.

Hi Adele, thank you so much for all this information. My wife and I bought flights from Munich to HCMC departing on March 27 and planned to travel around Vietnam, Cambodia and maybe Thailand for 3 weeks total. We aren't worried about getting the virus, but very worried about being forcibly quarantined in Vietnam. If this is the case, who has to pay for the 14 days? Would it even be possible to get an earlier flight out of the country? This has been our dream trip for a while but now sadly we are both leaning towards canceling altogether.

Vietnam
-

If it becomes the case that Vietnam government decides to apply quarantine measures on Germans, you will have to pay the quarantine cost yourselves, I guess around 20-25 usd/day, just my guess. Or you can choose to leave the country at the soonest flight, maybe to BKK. Dont cancel it! Finger crossed that you will make it.

Vietnam

I was wrong, Hanoi authority said they will support 100K VND (4.2 USD)/day for anyone in quarantine, VNese or foreigners, quarantine at home, at centralized site or at hospital.

Hi all - my partner and I applied for Visa on Arrival (VOA). I have a Greek passport and he has a British one. The documents came through quickly and hopefully we will not be turned down at the airport. We are flying to HCMC on the 15th March, with an immediate internal flight (Vietjet) to Hanoi that same evening. Anyone has experienced anything abnormal at Vietjet flights? How long does the VOA process normally take at the airport?

Lasly, we are planning to go to Hanoi - Halong Bay (and Cat Ba which has now been cancelled), Hoi An, My Son temple (@Adele Nguyen is it still open?), and Phu Quoc, HCMC.

Are the public roads and markets open in these places?

Vietnam
-

Hi Konstania,
If you are granted VOA, I dont think you have any issue at airport. You could have to wait a bit longer as nowadays fewer people are grantes free entry.
Vietjet flights sometimes departs later than schedule, so pls expect some delay.
Ha Long bay is a very good alternative for Cat Ba. Hoi An is like Ha Long, some restaurants, hotels are quarantined, the rest is opened as normal. Phu Quoc, curremtly, is good to go. HCMC too.
Public roads, no problem. Day markets are opened, night market in HN is cancelled.

Dear Vietnam Traveller. Today we arrived from Munich via Dubai in Hanoi. The aircraft was fully booked, mainly with french, britisch and german peoples. I can promise you nobody has been rejected for immigration. Only problem on the airport was the health check form, because the online request did not work and everybody had to fill the paper form. Therefor the the trafic jam was very long :-)
On afternoon we went for some hours to the old central city and I never had the impression anybody was falling in panic. All shops and restaurants are open. Around 50% of the local people are wearing masks, and also some of the tourists. We habe been on the big market Dong Xuang and everything was fine. Most people there are relaxed and only a few are concerned about us european.
On evening we have been in Old Town again and everything was OK. So in my opinion I have not seen any restriction and I would recommend so far, just come to Vietnam.
Tomorrow we will do a round trip in Hanoi and und the day after we will do a 2 day Ha Long cruise. I will send an update afterwards.

Germany
-

I requested an e-Visa before. The costs for it is around 25.- Euro, this is the only risk you have in case it will be rejected. Latest after 3 days you will have either an positive or negative response.
And again, I have no fear about the corona virus, even I am close to 65. I have more fear about the fear people have about the virus. This will limit our life and economy. Flu and some other Virus are still much worster. You self can help to avoid to spread the virus. Keep distance to others, do not shake hands, no huges and kisses for greeting. Wash and desinfect your hands. And in case you feel not well or sick, do not go in public.
I am really happy I did not cancel my 3 week trip to Vietnam.

I’m staying in Hoi An now. Today almost every beach bar was closed for the next 3 days and 1 gym was also closed. The other gym I went was open but closed 1 hour earlier than normal for disinfecting the equipment. Everything else in the city looks normal. I have emailed the embassy so hopefully they will provide more clarity

Hi Ashleigh, application accepted and fee paid. I will let you know if Visa is given (they say 3 day turn around) I figured that spending another £20 was worth a try as without it we can not enter Vietnam. I messaged the hotels we are staying in during our trip (we are not on a tour but have booked everything independently). I have only heard back from one so far but they have said that they are currently not accepting tourists from the UK to stay due to the visa restrictions. As somebody who has been in Vietnam for 2 months now. Things were fine until around 2 days ago. Its really changed. The friendly people have turned. Yesterday I was turned away from 4 guesthouses and today 3 hostels. Lets not forget there are 96 million here and 32 cases. Basically a 1 in 3 million chance of catching and nobody has died. Hi again,
So After a 1-2 days discussion if we are flying or not on the 12th of March... Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet took the decision for us.
They canceled and postponed our flights from Vietnam Back and in Vietnam (hcmc to Phu Quoc). So we canceled out Trip completely.. :(
We guess That they may want to Save Money and put some flights together or as mentioned already to protect or not overstress the healthcare on Islands.
Now, they also have some very strict Rules on a flight from Europe to VN.. (Wear masks all the Time, no walking, No Talking)
We booked over an agency and they Told us, that they are happy about the fact that we are still in Germany and not abroad. Actually they have a lot of trouble with rejected guests and canceled trips.

We are very sad about this outcome due to the fact that we planned it already Last year.. but we will definitely plan to visit VN.

And again, Thank you Adele! You and your Information about the Country, Region and Tourist spots helped us a lot!
Good Journey for everyone else!

Hi, I have the same problem. My flight was delayed for three days. Do you get money back from Vietnam Airlines or only partially?

Volha, normally if the flight is beeing cancelled or re-scheduled, you can request full refund if you want to cancel. I bought online non-refundable ticket through an agency, but when Cathay Pacific airline rescheduled my flight to 1 day earlier I asked the possibility to cancel. Travel agency contacted airline and they accepted, only it take weeks maybe months to get the money back.

We have the same experience as Big Si. We are Dutch and have been cycling since two months in Vietnam. We stay East of Cam Pha, in the Port of Cai Rong. We come from Long Son. We arrived two days ago, we got refused at 5 hotels. People turn away from us and cover their nose and mouth when they see us. I guess people near affected places are more paranoid, especially outside main cities. After 5 attempts we were lucky to find a place, but get checked here regularly by the police. Besides, the police did allow us to go by boat to the island of Quang Lan, but we could not sleep on the island.

Im not ready to give up just yet but some remote areas there may only be one guesthouse for 50km. I have a tent I could always use but I think that would create even more suspicion.
