United StatesWe thoroughly enjoyed the remote, private, and rustic setting of the Mare Gold Centre. The Juniper Cabin in which we stayed was clean and comfortable with a private deck, bathroom/shower, wood-burning stove for the winter, and books to cozy up in a rocking chair and read. The kitchen is set up with a two-burner cook top, toaster oven, coffee maker, pots, pans, dishes, utensils, etc. Not having been to the Mare Gold Centre before, and perhaps not having sufficiently done our research on it, we did not realize that the nearest stores and restaurants are about 20 minutes away. But a quick run to the market before it closed at 6 p.m. provided us with coffee and everything else we needed to cook our own meals for the rest of our stay. We enjoyed exploring the grounds and seeing the other cabins, some still being built, tucked away in private places. Enough cannot be said about the craftmanship and detail of these cabins and outlying structures, which is quite incredible! The ship deck quickly became our favorite spot to view the water.
