The food was incredible, it was fresh local produce which included artisan ice-cream and jams made by the hosts. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet escape.

Luis gave us plenty information regarding the nearby town where we can find place to eat and sightseeing. He also helped us with the laundry which we needed urgently. Super nice old school house, excellent sleep, it is so silent during the evening, so peaceful and the air is so fresh and clean. Breakfast has any options you wish, but you have to clearly ask the owner what, when and how much you need.

Casa do Merlo exceeded our expectations (last-minute booking in summer) -- wonderful, beautiful property in a darling small seaside town, comfortable and spacious rooms, very friendly and gracious host (we loved it so much, we stayed an extra night). I will stay here again if my travels take me back to the area in the future. It's a short and lovely walk to a wide and beautiful sand beach and a 15-20 minute stroll will land you at some good food options by the sea, too. Cathedral Beach is a 7 minute drive away.

Little detail: the excellent mattress consists of recycled plastic recovered from the oceans!
