Our favorite hotel experience in Sumba!

Desa Hay is a wonderful place to stay in Canggu! Everything at the hotel/ villa was great. All the staff were very friendly, accommodating and the service was superb. All requests were responded to and fulfilled within minutes - direct WhatsApp communication with reception/ butler. They always welcomed us warmly, responded promptly and went above and beyond. The villa itself is modern and beautifully decorated to a very high standard with everything you could want or need. The villa’s outdoor area is wonderful - the pool, seating area and sun beds are nestled in a 'jungle' like garden, which is a very peaceful and tranquil environment - a nice contrast to the hustle and bustle of Canggu. Housekeeping always made sure the room was very clean and well kept. The breakfast is especially delicious and fresh, whether you go to the restaurant or enjoy in-room dining. I would recommend booking a car transport with the hotel throughout the stay for excursions and going to/ from restaurants, cafes, etc. The drivers are friendly and knowledgable of the local area. Desa Hay went above our expectations!

Everything. Especially the staff; their genuine enthusiasm toward making one’s “stay” and well being an exceptional experience. This place is a sanctuary. Exquisite bespoke accommodation (side pool rooms highly recommended). Grounds, spa services. Delicious dining menus and bar services. Zero complaints. Amazing concierge services. Truly, an oasis. Definitely returning.

I had the most wonderful stay here during my holiday. The space itself is absolutely beautiful — thoughtfully designed and surrounded by gorgeous landscaping that immediately makes you feel at peace. The rooms were incredibly spacious, calm, and comfortable, creating the perfect environment to truly relax. What really stood out was the warmth of the staff. From the moment I arrived, they made me feel like part of the family rather than just a guest, which made the experience even more special. The whole property has such a homely feel, striking the perfect balance between luxury and comfort. I honestly can’t wait to return — it’s the kind of place that stays with you long after you’ve left.

Perfect for morning swims and sunset dips. 👨‍👧‍👦 The Host: Went Above & Beyond The owner Agung and amaizing Esa was genuinely kind and caring, making me feel like family. As a solo traveler, I sometimes worry about safety and loneliness, but they: Took me around Ubud – Showed me hidden gems I’d never find on my own. secret waterfalls, and cultural spots. Made sure I was comfortable – Always checking in without being intrusive. I recommend all my friends. Peaceful & private – No noisy tourists, just pure relaxation. Solo-traveler friendly – Felt completely at ease the whole time. Authentic Balinese hospitality – Not a commercial resort, just genuine warmth. What a stunning piece of paradise! Gorgeous design. A fabulous place to relax and unwind. I loved the food…super fresh and delicious. A must stay in Serangan, Lombok 😍
