Located in Matemwe, a few steps from Matemwe Beach, HEBE Bungalows Lodge has accommodations with a garden, free private parking, a private beach area and a shared lounge. We love this place. Firstly, Matemwe is a relatively quiet spot and the lodge opens up to the beach. You can spend all day just watching life happen or go for a swim/snorkel at high tide or get on a boat to snorkel further out beyond the reef. Secondly the space is comfortable and clean. The staff and the owner are also fantastic…friendly and attentive. The buffet breakfast is great too.

Located in Nungwi, a 5-minute walk from Nungwi Beach, Oasis Blu Beach Resort-Adults Only has accommodations with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a fitness center and a garden. We had a wonderful stay at Oasis Blu Beach Resort! Despite some previous reviews mentioning bugs, we didn’t encounter any issues at all—everything was clean and comfortable. The resort is located a bit away from the busy center of Nungwi, which we actually loved. It costs around $25 for a round-trip taxi to the town, but being slightly removed means you get to enjoy a peaceful, almost private stretch of beach with breathtaking views. The hotel itself is quite small—fewer than 20 rooms—which makes it feel intimate and personal. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing, and the staff are truly exceptional. Every single person went above and beyond to make sure we felt welcome and well cared for. If you’re looking for a quiet, scenic escape with outstanding hospitality, this place is a hidden gem!

Located in Nungwi, a 2-minute walk from Nungwi Beach, Canary Hotel & SPA provides accommodations with free bikes, free private parking, a fitness center and a garden. We liked absolutely everything, from the check in, pool, restaurant, rooms.. to locations and very kind staff! Highly recommended!

Babalao Bungalows has an outdoor swimming pool, garden, a shared lounge and terrace in Nungwi. Breakfast was very good, every Day you get something else! Beach is only few minutes to walk. Highly recommended!

The Oasis Residence has an outdoor swimming pool, fitness center, a garden and bar in Jambiani. This 3-star hotel offers room service, a tour desk and free WiFi. Everything. Breakfast was amazing. The villa was clean and beautiful.

Bahati Sunset Bungalows Michamvi has an outdoor swimming pool, garden, a terrace and restaurant in Michamvi. Offering a bar, the property is located within a few steps of Michamvi Kae Beach. This was hands down the best place to stay in Zanzibar! I was looking for somewhere quiet to relax with amazing sunset views, and this spot couldn’t have been more perfect. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious, and the chef even taught me some Swahili! The staff were incredible: always friendly, attentive, and going out of their way to make sure everything was just right. It’s the little things that really stood out. On my last day, I had a late-night flight and was going to miss breakfast. Without me even asking, they packed one up for me to take on my trip. That kind of thoughtfulness says everything about how much they care for their guests. I’d 100% recommend this place and would come back in a heartbeat if I get the chance to visit Zanzibar again!

Located in Nungwi and with Nungwi Beach reachable within a few steps, Dhow Beach Boutique Hotel has a garden, non-smoking rooms, free WiFi throughout the property and a private beach area. We stayed at the Dhow Boutique Hotel for just one night, but it left a lasting impression. Despite moving to another place for the next two days, we kept coming back to the Dhow for coffee, lunch, and drinks, it quickly became our favorite spot. The hospitality from the owner and staff is truly unmatched; we felt completely at home from the moment we arrived. The views are breathtaking, and the hotel is just a few minutes’ walk from the turtle aquarium. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, definitely worth mentioning! The design of the hotel is also incredibly charming. Both the interior and exterior are beautifully crafted, with many wooden elements made by local carpenters using wood from traditional dhows (boats), giving the place a unique and authentic feel. As a bonus, guests have free access to the pool at the sister property, African Bungalows, which was a lovely perk. If I could give more than 10 points, I absolutely would.

The food was amazing and plentiful. Huge choice for breakfast. Fresh juice. Dinner options with cold beer. Rooms, pool and property clean. The beach was stunning, with amazing sunrises. Staff ensured we had a relaxing stay, including Edina the Customer Relationship Manager, Edwin the Manager, Dora, cleaning staff and Lucy the great chef. They organise excursions and massages. Highly recommended if you want a more intimate great value holiday.
