Ryokan Asunaro: A Traditional Japanese Inn in Takayama. Nestled just a 6-minute walk from Takayama Station and the Nohi Bus Center, Ryokan Asunaro offers an authentic Japanese inn experience. Spacious room, everything was well arranged and organised. Staff was helpful and professional, and provided all necessary information we needed to know about. And the guidebook in the room showed info about how to travel around the area. And there is a laundry room and we could pay to wash and dry (p.s. very reasonable prices). On-site free parking is a plus too!!

Located just a 1-minute walk from popular Miyagawa Morning Market in the heart of Takayama, Sumiyoshi Ryokan offers homely Japanese-style accommodation in the historic townhouse building. Loved everything about this cozy ryokan. The lovely people who run it are so kind. I absolutely loved the Japanese breakfast, and we chose the continental option for our kids. We had the family room which was surprisingly spacious. Also the onsen was a real treat which we took advantage of several times a day. Despite there being a few other guests there it felt like we had the place to ourselves. Would be lucky to stay here again.

Located in the centre of Takayama Historic District, Ryokan Tanabe 旅館田邊 is one of the most historical ryokans in the city. It features Japanese-style rooms and free WiFi in all areas. The location is the best, close to station and old town area. The food is great. and staffs very helpful

Hida Takayama Hodakaso Yamano Iori is just a 3-minute walk from JR Takayama Train Station and a 10-minute walk from Old Town and Takayama Jinya and Miyagawa Morning Market. Everything was fantastic. Stuff didn't speak much english but we could communicate really well. Everything was written and easy to understand. The atmosphere was wonderful. It's a traditional building with a bit old equipment but very well kept. It just added to the experience. Location was really close to everything.We would spend more nights here if we knew what great experience we will get.

Awarded in 2014 with TripAdivsor’s Certificate of Excellence, Takayama Ouan features traditional Japanese designs and tatami (woven-straw) flooring throughout. The hotel was excellent with very good service, breakfast and cozy rooms which didn't feel small. The beds were very comfortable. The highlight was the fantastic private onsens. And even free ice cream post that was truly the icing on the cake Highly recommended for anyone staying at Takayama

Ideally located just a 2-minute walk from JR Takayama Station and Shirakawa-go Bus Terminal, this hotel boasts a natural hot spring bath where guests can unwind. Free Wi-Fi is available in all areas. The hotel had onsen with public baths. It was quite neat and clean. Excellent location near Jr station or bus station and a short 5-10 min walk across the river to the old takayama town with tourist things. The bathroom was small (but neat and clean) but we anyways instead used onsen to take bath. The breakfast was just decent and didn't live up to the good reviews we read on booking.com. Just outside the hotel, there is a small cafe run by an old Japanese lady. We loved our coffee and deserts there. Would recommend it if you crave good coffee after the breakfast buffet (it has machine coffee).

Boasting open-air hot spring baths looking over the city and heartfelt hospitality, Honjin Hiranoya Annex is ideally located just steps away from popular Takayama Jinya building and its morning... The river view, tatami room, futon bed and the warmth welcome by staffs;Ono and the other chauffeur are very welcoming. I like how everything was arranged well by the hotel and I just relax here
