Located within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of George Town, Ren I Tang Heritage Inn is located in a restored building from the 1800s. Spanning an area of 3 shop house units, the property features free WiFi, a restaurant and small museum on the ground floor, which used to be a medical hall. This hotel is incredible. The history, the ambience and the staff are all amazing. This doesn’t even mention the restaurant which also serves outstanding food - especially for how reasonable it all is.

Individually designed rooms are fitted with classic wood furnishings and air conditioning. They have a safe, hairdryer and tea/coffee maker. We stayed at the Blue Mansion for four nights as part of our honeymoon trip around Malaysia, and could not recommend it more highly. It is a gorgeous hotel and they have done an amazing job preserving the tranquil, historic feel whilst also ensuring it is comfortable for guests. The service is excellent and the staff are very friendly and attentive. Because it is a small hotel with a smaller staff, it is lovely to see familiar faces every day. We loved the breakfast, which consists of a small buffet and menu of cooked breakfasts, all of which were excellent. We also had cocktails in the bar before going out to dinner three of the four nights, and the quality of the cocktails was exceptional. The pool area is small but peaceful, and we very much enjoyed using both the pool and our in-room jacuzzi after a long day exploring in the Penang heat. The location is brilliant, and it is within a very short walk of great food and Georgetown nightlife. This is a very personal, unique hotel experience, and we would not hesitate to stay here again.

The location is so good, just on the shore with the town at its back. The staff also gave me 3 days of complimentary lounge access since only 1 of my suites had it already but we were a family so they gave us all access.
