I loved the peace and quiet that the hotel managed to offer. While finer-dining is not really my forte, it was truly excellent as an exploration of flavours and textures. The facilities were clean and wonderful, the staff made it absolutely magical.

We loved the design of this hotel. It was like Ethan Allen had had a hand in decorating the public spaces - it was so perfectly boho British Colonial. We loved the cozy bar and the lush plantings on the grounds of the hotel. Also loved the breezeway with the coy pond on the way to the bar and restaurant. Our room was very comfortable. The staff was laid back while still being professional. We have stayed in many places in South Africa that were super-duper deluxe. We liked that The Residence felt more homey and comfortable without being over the top.
