I really liked the quirky layout of an old building. The room was nice with all the amenities you need. It was also very clean. The staff were very friendly, helpful and would do anything to help if needed. The food was also very nice indeed and well priced. The offer of a packed lunch instead of breakfast was great.

Beautiful surroundings; a working farm. Lovely view from our window. Quiet and seemingly isolated yet a short ten minute walk to a picturesque village. Breakfast was outstanding. Our very spacious room was spotlessly clean and ensuite bathroom was 6 star. Huge bath and seperate shower; all looked brand new.

    Bridgwater is a sad place.

Bridgwater is a sad place. The river trade, upon which its very existence depends, is gone and Bridgwater is not developing a replacement economy. The few shops still open are quiet, charity shops or selling vapes or other useless trash. A depressing place to visit. I stopped here to find Somerset wicker basket sellers. They've gone online!

I had never been to Bridgwater before and was not very impressed with what I saw on my brief stay. It is very much like lots of other similar size locations - no interesting shops and too many fast-food outlets. The overall centre was rather sad and neglected but that is not too different to many other towns. Bridgwater reflects the situation in many British places - the High Street is nothing like it used to be.

Easy to get to off the M5 so a great location for nosing around the area. We went to Dunster Castle which was well worth the effort and another National Trust Property - Knightshayes near Tiverton - which is really stunning and you could easy make a day of it. We also spent a happy couple of hours at the Procktor Farm Car Boot plus several Antique Shops to browse. Only a couple of days away but we left knowing there is still more for us to do so we know we will be back.

Lots of roadworks at the moment, queues all through Bridgwater. Did not feel that I wanted to actually try to go into the Town as it was so congested. I realise this is temporary so would like to revisit the area again.

We are bird watchers, so it is an ideal location for the local RSPB reserves and Steart Marshes WWT is only 10mins away. Had an evening meal at the Malt Shovel. Large portions, reasonably priced and enjoyable.

The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Our room was clean, the beds comfortable and the ensuite was spacious. Breakfast was delicious, I recommend the veggie sausage and halloumi! The hotel is in a central location and has a courtyard which leads to the evening bar. The great age of the building makes it interesting and quirky, with odd steps and sloping floors.
