We only stayed for one night but will definitely return, God willing. Met with an exceptionally warm welcome from the start, we felt immediately at home. Our room was very nice and the bed super comfy. Nothing was too much trouble during our stay. The dinner menu was wonderful- so many options but what we chose was delicious! The dining room view out onto the loch and gardens would be hard to beat anywhere! The hotel has many beautiful original features and many cosy corners for a little drink or quiet read, lots of wildlife to watch too. The hotel is surrounded by lovely gardens and is full of freshly cut flowers which I found a really homely and lovely touch. The manageress and her team of staff were the warmest and friendliest staff we’ve met in a long time and they really made us feel so special. The manageress spoke so affectionately about her team it was clear they are all really committed to this place. I’m sure if you appreciate stunning scenery, historic architecture and meeting delightful staff, you’ll enjoy a holiday here too! We highly recommend Stonefield Castle Hotel - such a special hotel!

This is a traditional country house hotel.
This is a traditional country house hotel. The furnishings reflect this - it’s not the standard corporate feel of the Premier Inn. It has character and atmosphere with views that are stunning.
The restaurant is better than most hotels I have been to, and the staff are super.
It’s a big old house so yes, another £500k would make it look better - but it is roomy, comfortable and a lovely place to stay for a few days.
Loved it…

We would rate this as very good as long as you can avoid staying in an annex bedroom. Loved the common areas, lounge, library and restaurant. Very easy to explore with some interesting paths around the property and lots of tranquil spots to sit and enjoy the views
The staff were friendly and engaging and we were shown to our room on arrival which was a lovely touch. The property is amazing in terms of location and architecture and the restaurant and public rooms are just what one would expect from this type of property. I'd been to the Stonefield about 30 years ago so it was great to go back.
Staff were very welcoming and understanding of our slightly late arrival (ferry issues). The decor and furnishings give this hotel a very authentic 'stately home' feel and experience throughout. Loved the free roaming guests' dogs that were in the bar area. View from the dining room at breakfast was fantastic.
Magnificent building inside and out in a spectacular setting. Interesting walk around Barmore Island from the hotel although the path could do with some maintenance.
Excellent service from attentive staff. Exceptional standard of food for dinner and breakfast; good to see local beers on offer.
Oh what a special treat! My daughter and I loved staying at the Castle. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful. We loved the afternoon tea, exploring the ground, and our dinner and breakfast in the beautiful dining room overlooking the loch. We feel so lucky to have been able to stay here!
The views and the trails to walk on.
The bar was great, and we enjoyed breakfast in the dining room.
It was fun to wander the castle and the various rooms to sit in and enjoy a relaxing time with our fellow travelers or to meet others staying as well
Great scenic location with loch view and island within reach of the hotel. Spacious room in a lovely baronial style castle. Meals were in a dining room with panoramic view of Loch Fyne and Barmore Island. Very romantic and peaceful getaway.
Wow! What a great experience. It’s a castle. So that right there is worth everything. The location was and grounds were great. The restaurant and bar were fantastic and the staff was very warm and welcoming. This hotel was amazing.
Lovely dinner and breakfast. Staff very efficient and friendly. Dog friendly hotel and staff are excellent with them. The grounds are gorgeous, with many beautiful walks. Have stayed here many times. Will hopefully return soon.
The hotel is splendid. Although we are spend a night there in a quiet season the staff were very attentive. The rooms are very spacious. We could recommend the dinner menue, too. The common rooms are very cosy.
It’s a literal castle, it was amazing. The food was delicious, the drinks were fantastic! The staff was extremely friendly. Plus the hike to the island offered incredible views!
