The hotel is very nice in the core of the city center. The stuff was very helpful, they gave us all information we needed in advance (about parking, ZTL, self check-in). We were coming late in the evening so we needed to self check-in, they gave us precise instructions and everything went smooth. The room was nice and cozy (and very quiet also), we had really good night sleep there and felt refreshed in the morning. The breakfast was also very good, with plenty of fresh food choices.

Exceptionally helpful and welcoming staff. Our bicycles were safely stored in the Bar. I think that couldn't happen if they were busy, but it was very accommodating of them. Our room was a bit small, but we knew that because it was one of the cheaper rooms. The location is right in the centre of Volterra with lots of places to eat nearby. The breakfast (€15 each) was outstanding with both savoury and sweet offers. There were tea and coffee making facilities in the room.

The villa was a wonderful place to stay!
The villa was a wonderful place to stay! The building was built in the 15th century but has all the modern amenities. Our host/owner Luca was so accommodating in every way. His staff prepared a delicious breakfast each morning with many varieties of local cuisine. He had even prepared a map and detailed itinerary for several day trips if we wanted to explore the surrounding towns and other sights. This hotel was an excellent find.

not the most interesting of fortified hill top towns, but nice enough. Not an awful lot too see apart from the stunning views and the inevitable torture museum which we came across in three other locations

Volterra is a beautiful historic town and walking around the narrow streets feels like stepping back several centuries in time. Walking around the traffic free central area was a pleasure. We visited several historic buildings including the beautiful cathedral. Also some excellent museums with great collections and works of art. There are many lovely restaurants and cafes too which make Volterra well worth a visit.

Wonderful staff! Our first room was on a busy walkway & a bit to noisy… they juggled us into quieter rooms … just very calm & helpful with maps. One of the best breakfasts in our Italy vacation including gluten-free & soy products for my daughter. Nice reading room and a spacious rooftop terrace with a bar… taking breakfast up there optional. Some ancient Etruscan wall uncovered touches & biggest (small by American standards) shower we encountered yet. Right in the center of town - super convenient for us without a car.
Set in magnificent countryside between Volterra and Colle Val d'Elsa, with proximity to San Gimignano, Il Boschetto is a perfect place to stay for an authentic Tuscan experience while enjoying peace and the songs of nightingales. Rooms are simple but clean and comfortable, and the restaurant is in itself an excellent destination for the local cooking. The owners and staff are welcoming and attentive, and we fully intend to return. Thank you to Dario, Samantha, and Laura.
Excellent value, size of apartment (3 floors), and location right in volterra on quiet street. Tons of space, well appointed, great bathrooms and shower, cute kitchen, would make a super base to explore tuscany from for multiple days. Antonio was efficient and welcoming to the city. Was short walk to parking outside walls, and all the restaurant and activity in volterra.

Breakfast excellent and abundant with locally sourced items. Staff at breakfast kind and accommodating. Check in and check out easy. Everyone smiling throughout our stay.
The hotel is situated about 1 km walk from the historic city center of Volterra and is next to the hospital. Ample free parking possibilities. The hotel has a nice inner courtyard. The room was clean and had a nice view on the garden. The WiFi in the room was reasonable. The hotel has a friendly staff and the breakfast was good.
This hotel is located in the beautiful historic center of Volterra within walking distance of everything you might want to see or do. The English-speaking staff are welcoming and helpful. Our room was quite small, but very clean and comfortable. The breakfast is really good with a wide variety of good quality choices.
Great place to stay when visiting Volterra/San Gimigniano area.
Very clean place. The owner is super friendly and accommodating.
The restaurant at the hotel is exceptional and staff is happy to accommodate specific requests.
A variety of options for breakfast - yoghurts, pastry, fruits, cold cuts and cheese.
Impeccable. Not your average stay in agriturismo. Ivana, Claudia and Genuino are professional hosts with long experience, Podere Marcampo could be considered a boutique hotel, with excellent rooms and facilities, good breakfast with breathtaking view, all in an outstanding location a few minutes from Volterra.
This place is absolutely lovely. A beautiful building in a wonderful location. We ate at the restaurant in the evening and the food was delicious.
The staff was very helpful in finding our way around Volterra. Lots of parking space.
When we left, we were sad to only have one night in this beautiful place
Very cosy atmosphere with beautiful view.. The owner Cassandra was very kind and helpful. Perfect place if you want to see Toscana, the famous cities are around 1 our from the Villa, like Florence, Pisa, Siena, Volterra, San Gimignano, Cinque Terre…
The hotel has excellent situation - in the heart of old Volterra. He got excellent reception from the staff - with recommendations for parking and dining. Due to the Corina virus pandemic, we could receive free of charge our breakfast in the room.
We were taken care of from the moment we call for our reservation. The location was absolutely perfect for a stroll into town. If your biking through town this hotel is for you and your bikes. There is plenty of room to store your bikes safety.
This is an excellent hotel in the middle of Volterra. Our suit was fabulous, and we were simply impressed on arrival. The staff were very helpful and happy to help.
Thanks for making our stay fabulous Hotel La Locanda.
Pros:
The hotel has parking and it's located at walking distance just at the bottom of the hill from one of Volterra's main gates.
The breakfast is exclusively vegan (good if you are vegan).
The rooms are spacious
Fantastic host. Comfortable bed and accommodations. Volterra is a mountain top city so be prepared for stairs in city and this apartment. Quiet and plenty of room to relax and rest weary legs.
Beautiful location on outskirts of Volterra with stunning views. So quiet. Owners gave me some seasonal vegetables from their garden that were just delicious. Exceptionally nice spot.
It was much better hotel than I thought it will be. Ideal place to stay if you want to see Volterra, very close to centre and restaurants.
