Food served was delicious and the owners couldn't have been more helpful at all points of our stay. They really made us feel welcome and were on hand to answer questions and offer suggestions at any time

I liked the private onsen, it was always available for us to use! The room was also good, very spacious, and the bedding was the best on our trip to Japan. We also used the garden, when the weather was nice, and it had a view of Mt. Fuji and a place to sit in the sun.

Very warm welcome from the owners, a very nice couple who will do their best to communicate with you with their electronic translator. The place is big and comfortable. Supposedly it has a view on mount Fuji but it was cloudy so we couldn't see it.

An amazing hotel right on the picturesque shore. Everything is tidy and comfortable. The room is spacious and convenient. Lights are remote controlled, all the amenities are present. I particularly enjoyed the bed. It is wide and the latex mattress is so soft that I was dead to the world during the night. They have a sufficient amount of parking slots and a bicycle for a ride

It was a nice place to stop for a few days before heading back to Tokyo.
Great places to eat and beautiful walks around the lake.
There is a bathhouse not to far from the hotel but they do not allow tattoos- no exceptions.

This is a beautiful area full of nature and amazing views.
This is a beautiful area full of nature and amazing views. I went in October so out of the main season and it was nice and quiet with not many visitors around.
Renting a Swan boat and feeding the ducks was great fun!
I couldn't find a single vegetarian restaurant in town so something to be aware of if you don't eat meat or fish.
Just be aware of the army base from which you can hear artillery fire every day. It's loud and a little disconcerting!
I think Yamanakako is less touristy than Kawaguchiko which for me is a good thing.

It's a great area if you like outdoorsy activities.
It's a great area if you like outdoorsy activities. There's several hiking trails around the Lake, which are well marked and reward you with an awesome view of Fujisan when you get to the destination. The trails up to Mt Takazasu and Mt Myojin are good and take in the Panorama-Dei spot which is popolar for viewing Fujisan. All-day parking is available at Yamanakako Community Plaza Kirara, and the trailheads are 20-30min walk away from there.
There is also a very nice 15km cycling path around the Lake, which is a very long but pleasant walk. If you're not outdoorsy, then the options are more limited to the nice restaurants, and there are high end and nice lower-priced options (Denny's, Cafe Gusto). There are also various onsen and sento in the town.

Pros - Mt Fuji is a glory to see so close up and the clouds...
Pros - Mt Fuji is a glory to see so close up and the clouds and the skyline around the mountain were in a constant dance of change - breathtaking. The reflections of the sunset clouds on the lake were were dazzling. The freshness of the pristine air. The lack of high humidity. The sense of well-being offered by the area. The vehicles stopped at zebra crossings which isn't always the case in certain cities.
Cons - At times we have to walk on the road within half a metre of passing vehicles. That could have possible unwanted outcomes.

Yamanashi in general was gorgeous.
Yamanashi in general was gorgeous. We stayed at Yamanakako and it was a great place to stay at to get away from the stressful work environment in the city. We didn't get to eat at any local restaurants since we were too busy exploring the surrounding areas but you won't be left wanting for food options since everywhere you go, there's a restaurant nearby and they all looked so good. I think it would be more convenient if you travel around by car since the bus fare can get a little expensive if you're traveling far.

Yamanakako is a great place for people that don't like...
Yamanakako is a great place for people that don't like crowded locations. You can calmly cruise on your car around the lake, watch the swans, grab a coffee at one of several scenic cafes. You can take a mini-swan-boat for a spin in a small group while feeding swans and big fishes or take a mega-swan "pleasure boat" that takes you across the lake. Or you can take a hippo amphibian bus that will drive you right into the lake. Or you can just park your car and walk into the lake with a gorgeous view of Fuji with reflection. Dramatic scenery guaranteed. The only thing you won't see is a fancy infrastructure. There are some nice cafe's but many places look run down. Surprising though, considering how beautiful the nature is around.
Really a nice stay. When I got lost at night, the owner drived me to the hotel after a phone call, which helped me a lot. Also invited me to have dinner in the hall, where we had a nice chat together.
The view from the room is indeed gorgeous. Perfect view of Mount Fuji.
Since I told the owner my schedule, he cared about me so much, who even gave me a morning call in case I would miss the bus. So kind of him. The next day the owner also drived me to a place quite far. Such a nice guy.
I appreciate the warm hospitality from the staff, particularly Ms. Mitsuyo along with her another colleague, who assisted us with everything we needed. She provided helpful information about the surroundings, and both the dinner and breakfast were excellent. The breathtaking view of Mount Fuji over Lake Yamanaka added to the overall experience. The property is serene, quiet, and peaceful—ideal for anyone looking to recharge during a few nights' stay.
I really love this place. Great location for to explore Yamanakako Lake. I really recommend if you want to travel the lake around Mt.Fuji by rental car. I was in the room 3rd floor with spectacular view of Mt.Fuji. The owner so kind, He explained everything. The toilet on the 1st floor(Gentleman)/ 2nd floor(Lady). I will be back again for sure.
Everything!! The owner is amazing and so sweet i can't wait to come back. The location is perfect, just a short walk away from the path that goes around the lake. The bath was the most relaxing I have ever had. Waking up to the view of Fuji-san in the distance was a dream come true.
Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location. Hotel surrounded by beautiful trees and lake Yamanakako with mount Fuji across the road. Really enjoyed relaxing in the onsen. There is a bar for drinks and all you can eat buffet with a large variety of tasty food. Highly recommend.
The pension felt like a second home at Lake Yamanaka. The hostess was extremely kind and welcoming. Since public transportation is scarce in the evening, she drove us to get dinner at a restaurant and she returned and picked us up once we were finished.
The owner made sure I had everything I needed, speaks very good english and the view from the balcony/some of the rooms towards the lake and mt fuji is incredible, if youre lucky you can catch a sunrise! Also hot water, microwave and toasters available
The lady was helpful with transportation planning and booking and I gave her a lot of credit for it and greatly appreciated it. This hotel is also suitably located for morning walk for Mt Fuji mirrored lake view photos.
Good location if you have a car because it’s just right next to the lake. It is easy to see the sunrise with the mountain Fuji. The bed is comfortable and the facilities are nice. Really enjoyed my stay there.
Amazing host & very comfortable stay. The lady host make us feel like living at a relative home. We are just in time for the Autumn red leaves festival at the park beside Lake Yamanakako. Highly recommended.
The boss Mr Shibata speaks English fluently.
The guesthouse is located at the waterfront of the Yamanaka lake and you can see the beautiful Fuji mountain sitting outside of the guesthouse.
No word to describe how amazing and nice the hosts are, that was a fantastic stay ! Perfect place to enjoy the relaxing view on the Mt Fuji, paddling on the lake was a great pleasure !
It's a great location in front of the yamanakako lake, the staff is extremely friendly and available for anything.
The room was big and the beds are very comfortable.
The room is very big and onsen is nice! The location of the hotel is close to the walking trails beside the lake. The facilities in the room are nice too.
