Our visit to Richmond was primarily for the Nascar race.

Our visit to Richmond was primarily for the Nascar race. The track is 15-20 minutes from Virginia Crossing. I would have loved to spend more time at the Hotel. So many guests were strolling the trails and hills of the property, hand in hand.

Richmond is full of history, civil war stuff, colonial era historical things, the James River is beautiful, but man is it hot there in July. Very pleasant in the spring and fall, but the summers are hot and sticky. Lots of museums, and lots and lots of great small restaurants, bars and breweries. It seems like there is a festival of some sort going on nearly every weekend and those are always fun especially St. Patrick’s Day up on Church Hill.

In just three short days we had the following experiences with friends and family: dancing to live music at Bryan Park neighborhood bar; free secret concert at Scuffletown Park in The Fan; Mexican dinner at Blue Habanero; Carytown stroll and coffee at Sugar & Twine; Virginia Museum of Fine Arts; Hollywood Cemetery; live music and dinner at Brickfire downtown; The Poe Museum; a welcoming new juice bar in Shockoe Bottom; stroll on the grounds of Patrick Henry's historic speech church; Proper Pie on Church Hill; Asian lunch at the new Lotte Market food court. Only a few of these activities were planned, and most were just stumbled upon. That's what I love and miss about Richmond.

While I was a little surprised at the contrasting views of Richmond, I was also very impressed with the city's pursuit to preserve its history and really showcase the progress made. Richmond is a beautiful city to visit and really well located, you're only a little over an hour to Jamestown, 2 hours to DC, NC, WVA, the list goes on. So many things to see and do for free, you need 1 week just for that...

The room we booked was a Deluxe King Suite which we found to be spacious and very comfortable. We particularly liked the layout of the room. We had stayed here before, several years ago, and we weren't disappointed on this occasion. The breakfast was good and there was a, relatively, good selection. The hotel is attached to a shopping mall which we found quite convenient

The room is big and spacious. The living area is separate from the bedroom. Our unit looked into the Capitol park. Valet parking worked well. Near to eateries. We joined a free guided tour of the Capitol.

not safe!! Their client is a drug addict and they insulted me several times! I went into the room and couldn't come out because of the people squatting in the hotel. The room smelled of cigarettes
