Very cordial service. Room was exceptionally tidy and clean, and the breakfasts were top notch. I'm lactose intolerant and the friend I'm traveling with is gluten free, so they made sure to give us lactose free milk and gluten free bread, muesli, etc.

From the get-go we had a very pleasant experience. Check in was very convenient since we got detailed instructions on how to go about check in and everything was exactly as instructed and easy to find. The facilities were absolutely fantastic and everybody commented on how you really did not want for everything since there was exceptional attention to detail, down to coffee and rusks in the kitchen. We were sorry that we didn't stay longer but certainly plan on staying there again. I would gladly recommend The Barn!

Absolutely perfect spot to escape and unwind. The cottages are incredibly well set up, kitchen has everything you could need, the deck is great to unwind and watch the sun set over the mountains, and incredibly comfy beds and linens. The pool is lovely to splash and unwind in and there’s some lovely walks to explore on the farm.Sempurna is close to the town, wine tastings next door at McGregor Wines with ice cream pairing is pretty fun too. 11/10 stay, will be back for sure

    Beautiful, clean little town.

Beautiful, clean little town. Quant little clothing shops, beautiful to visit. Maaaany bargains to be found. Mostly, friendly people. Only at Jimmys restaurant, did we have very poor reception, but we didn't let that upset us, we went and had a Fantastic meal at Four Cousins . Our meals at the coffee shop in Roberstons, Strictly Coffee, were out of this World, magnificent service and hearty, delicious meals.

The restaurants, bars and cafes were all very welcoming and served delicious food and great wines. The locals have time to chat and share what they love about their town and why they live there. There is a real sense of community.

I have been to McGregor a few times in the past, the last being 11 years ago. I enjoyed the stay but felt that the area has deteriorated since my last visit. Entrance to town messy and unkempt. However, restaurants were good and a visit to The Donkey Sanctuary was a highlight.

Do not expect ATM's and supermarkets. It is a sleepy town with fantastic places to eat and relax. Safe. The surrounding area of farms is verdant and beautiful. There are many many choices available for accommodation.

McGregor is a beautiful little town for picture-perfect houses and lovely places to eat. We loved eating breakfast at 51 and lunch at the Bistro on the main road. Vrolikeid Nature Reserve is a must - a well run and stunningly beautiful hiking spot offering varying length hikes. There's plenty more to do ie. pottery studios, the donkey sanctuary, so will definitely be visiting again!

A small charming village in a lovely setting. Not much else to do but walk and eat, but there are 7 restaurants of which the Fat Lady’s Arms was a fun choice. It’s a quiet getaway spot but at times does feel like you’ve stumbled into a retirement home!

It was absolutely spectacular. We were in McGregor for an event, the cottage was situated 400m from the main hub of the town, so close to everything but far enough away for peace and quiet. Petro was extremely accommodating letting us check out a little later so we could do our event and then pack up afterwards so we didn't have to rush in the morning. A lovely bottle of wine and rusks, with spoils on our pillows as well. Very kind gesture and very appreciated. We will be back for sure

We stayed in one of the self catering units. Plenty of space, comfy bed in a lovely renovated cottage. The farm is very old and traditional with beautiful views of the mountains. Very close to the Boesmanskloof hike and Vrolijkheid reserve and McGregor is close by for restaurants. Sindy manages the accommodation and is very helpful and friendly!

Serenity in McGregor is the place to be for serenity - a house with everything we needed equipped and a beautiful garden where our dogs were so happy to run around. The property is close to everything and our host is the kindest, offering us travel advice and helping us with dinner reservations. I will be back!

Beautiful, comfortable neat and clean little cottage in the heart of McGregor, Gordon was friendly and attentive, he had a fire going on our arrival so that cottage was warm and inviting. The little bowl with chocolate, fudge and pretzels was a lovely added touch of welcome.
