Things to Do in Buxton

Poole's Cavern
Even after 2 million years, Poole’s Cavern hasn’t given up all of its secrets. Believed to be inhabited by Bronze Age settlers, archaeologists are still discovering new sections of this enchanting cave (the most recent was found in 1998) and over 1,000 feet of underground exploration is waiting for adventurous visitors, with plenty of stalactites and stalagmites to wow all ages.
Solomon's Temple
The Victorian era tower known as Solomon’s Temple sits on top of a high hill in Derbyshire, and a quick climb to the open-air top will reveal the true glory of the Peak District. With views of the quaint town of Buxton and across to Kinder Scout (the Peak District’s highest point), it’s not just the unusual architecture that’ll leave a lasting impression on anyone lucky enough to visit.
Errwood Reservoir
The gentle slopes of the Peak District National Park rise up from the banks of the Errwood Reservoir, and when you combine that with the clean, gentle waters and big open skies, you’re talking about some seriously spectacular scenery. A hike around the reservoir’s 8 miles of shoreline will definitely get you feeling at one with nature.
Millers Dale
The scenery around Millers Dale is certainly spectacular, but the feats of Victorian engineering that built the twin viaducts is just as awe-inspiring! Even thought the trains don't chug down the tracks anymore, the viaducts are still standing as a reminder of the long-lost era of steam and industry. These impressive arches add a special something to the quiet, rural beauty of the Derbyshire countryside.

A lovely town , small but full of great architecture . Three wonderful stately homes nearby and fantastic countryside . Chatsworth House is a must . I enjoyed Matlock Bath with its cable car and lead mines . Arkwright's mill was also worth a visit

Buxton is an excellent centre for jumping off to vist the hills of Derbyshire. Don;t be put off by the cloudy weather often seen over Buxton, Out on the hills and in the local villages the weather can be very different with plenty of sunshine.

Very Good
The distance from rooms to reception / spa had loads of steps to go up /down. A pain if you're disabled as you cannot use the spa facilities. But friendly staff open plan areas to sit and relax.
