Things to Do in Oban

Oban Seafood Hut
Oban’s bay-side location makes it the ideal spot to fill up on seafood. Fresh off the boat, this no-frills venue serves some of the best clams, lobster, oysters, and mussels. They arrive swimming in garlic butter, while rock oysters are taken from a bed of ice and drizzled with lemon. Wrap up as you savor these treats outdoors on picnic benches, while the fresh Irish Sea air swirls around you!
The Waterfront Fishouse Restaurant
When you approach this waterside eatery, the salty sea air fills with the aroma of simmering seafood. Serious seafood lovers will appreciate the mouth-watering selection of chowder, whole langoustine, platters of oysters, dressed crab, and char-grilled scallops. The popular venue has gluten-free options, too, plus a carefully-selected wine list.
Ee-usk restaurant
Meaning "fish" in Scottish Gaelic and sitting right on Oban Bay, Ee-usk couldn’t have a more fitting name – or location. Locally-caught scallops, mussels, oysters, and lobster are accompanied by unobstructed views of the harbor and islands beyond. For some added Scottish flavor, sample the town’s whisky blend served at the restaurant.

Meh Oban's ok. If you live on Mull like myself it is reasonably exciting to be able to visit more than one shop. It's pretty small so a day there is satisfactory.

I think Oban is great for a night but too long for a weekend in winter when the light doesn't long for too long, it would be great to go in summer to get the ferry to the islands, though!

In the Wild life centre, we were fascinated by all the creatures, but especially the seals who were variously recovering from injury. The Canadian otters, being diurnal, were highly amusing with their antics. In the wild - the seals, and once we saw dolphins, plus the sea birds

Plenty of choices along the 'back' streets, plus buy and excellent picnic at the bakers (or chocolate factory) and walk along the shore or up the hills.

The fish and chips from the local 'take-away- near the harbour! The sea-food stalls (excellent in summer) were closed for the winter season as usual.

Sitting in the hotel lounge/bar and watching the sunset over Kerrera and the bay (with relaxing Scottish folk music playing quietly in the background)

Parking is difficult in High Season, and many of the tracks and pathways are interesting only to folk on foot.

Booking.com asked travelers...

Why do you recommend Oban for food?

Lots of very good places in which to eat. Reasonable prices to suit the style of the establishment.

Most services being on the sea front with the ferries coming and going giving a nice outlook.

The "Wow" factor
