Things to Do in Groningen

Groninger Museum
The bright, mismatched jumble of the Groninger Museum of Art is a post-modernist masterpiece in its own right. Sitting in the waters opposite the train station, its form draws you into a world of ever-changing contemporary exhibitions and creativity. The museum’s collection also features many local works, archaeological finds and historic pieces transported to the Netherlands during the Golden Age.
Martini Tower and Martin's Church
The Martinitoren has stood in Groningen’s market square for five centuries. Keeper of the bells for neighbouring Martin’s Church, the tower can be both heard and spotted from all over the city. Head inside the church itself to discover 16th-century tombs, a beautiful organ and striking original paintwork – or take on the tower for a bird’s eye view of Groningen.
Prinsentuin Gardens
The meticulously landscaped Prinsentuin is tucked away behind Groningen’s famous Prinsenhof. Surveyed by a gleaming golden sundial, lush hedges have been worked into intricate patterns, like the crowned initials of Willem Frederik of Nassau and his wife, Albertine Agnes. Amidst the foliage you’ll find a flourishing rose garden, herb garden and a network of pretty arched walkways.

Very Good
Cute city which is really easy to get around on foot or by bike. One day is probably enough, but it's a cool university town if you're looking for places to study. :) there was a big, multi day music and good festival on while I was there which was great.

Very Good
A tiny but beautiful city with good food and shopping. I was there for the Noorderzon Performing Arts festival, but would like to go back and see some of the more permanent attractions and museum.

Exceptional
It is a very small and cozy city! A large number of students from its universities lives in the city creating a young and light atmosphere. There are lots of greens areas and we can go for where we want by bike. Don' t forget to try the croquets of Groningen! They are the best!

All shops in City are great. Most provided free gift wrapping. V&D store excellent department store, and the food dept is excellent. Clothes compare to UK prices but with exchange rate at moment great bargains are to be had. Opticians and Shoe Shops good value too. Shops don't open until 10 or 11am though, but they stay open until 6pm. Monday is half day closing for some.

rather small but beuatiuful city center full of historical buildings combined with a good restaurants - an ideal place for a spring break...

There is a large university so lots of younger people as well as a lot of diversity

Be careful of people with bicycles, there are like million of them

The Groninger Art Museum has a well oriented variety of artists

yes boutiques in the Zwaanestraat

small city centre, lots to see

Het Pakhuis in de Peperstraat
