Things to do in Colchester

Sundays River Boat Cruises
Something different to do in and around Addo and close to Port Elizabeth. Just a short drive from Port Elizabeth on the N2 towards Grahamstown lies the village of Cannonville and Colchester. Situated on the estuary of the scenic Sundays River at the southern gate to the Addo Elephant National Park with its spectacular sand dunes and breathtaking views of the city of Port Elizabeth and Algoa Bay. We are also close to the Marine section of the Addo Elephant National Park. The river is calm and peaceful and offers a relaxing and memorable cruising experience. The Sundays River Ferry's upper viewing deck provides a great place from which to watch the plentiful bird life and game along the river banks. It is a short walk across the road from the office to the river where the Ferry cruise boat is moored.
P.O. Box 70, Colchester, 6175, Eastern Cape, South Africa.
Sunday River Quad Adventures
Sundays River Quads use brand new 300cc Aeon, 2 seater automatic Quad Bikes, and offer guided tours with experienced riders. Bringing your own quads is also allowed and various mapped routes are available. The latest event to attract visitors is the Annual Quad Bike Adventure Rally, and visitors can then camp in the newly built Caravan Park that lies directly across from the Clubhouse. Other activities include: Horse Riding, Addo Elephant Park Trips, Marine Drive Trips, and Boat Trips on the Sundays River. Accommodation is also offered here.

The city does not have much to do, only one pub but it was good because I arrived in Port Elizabeth and planned a safari in Amakhala (very good). The hotel was just in the way. It is near to Elephant reserve.

Great place to stay if you want to go to Addo. Also, take a drive to Sunday's River Mouth - beautiful beach.

We chose Colchester because of the south entrance of Addo elephant parc only being 2km away. But perhaps Addo is a better location because the West entrance is more intresting if you want ti see a lot of animals !

Not a lot to say! A very small town with a couple of restaurants, a petrol station and a Spar shop. However, it's right at the entrance to Addo so for park visitors it is great
