“Not enough words to express how much I enjoyed the McLay Heritage Guest House B&B near Duncan, B.C. From the pre-stay communications, reservation system, greeting on arrival, accommodation, amenities, ambiance, hosts, shower, food, general presentation and location, everything was superlative and suited my needs & tastes exactly. The McLay B&B offers all the necessary conveniences of our modern age within the auspices of an amazing historical setting. The bed, bedding, linens & pillows were perfect. I slept better than on my own bed. The duvet seemed at least eight inches thick, but the room was adequately warm for a spring night, and only the light blanket was necessary. The bath boasts an enormous claw-foot tub/shower with plenty of hot water and terrific water pressure. I am a morning person, and I especially enjoyed my crystal clear, front row view of the spectacular sunrises. I didn't even need to leave the comfort of the bed, although the second morning I enjoyed the sunrise from the attached private balcony. Enjoying breakfast by a freshly laid fire was an unexpected treat: enchanting and romantic. The food was served precisely on time each morning. And the coffee beat Starbucks hands down. Theresa graciously accommodated my gluten-free diet, and her homemade GF bread surpassed anything I've ever purchased in the specialty shops. Her Hollandaise Sauce is not to be missed! Easily, the best Eggs Benedict I have ever had. During my stay, the Trillium dotting the landscaping and trails around the Guest House were blooming as well as the Grape Hyacinth and the Oregon Grape. I even spied a less common Pink Trillium. The fragrance of the blooming native landscaping was subtle but fresh and memorable. I expected the building to be quite noisy, old floor boards generally creak, etc.”
