Bingen is touristy. This is not a place for people who are looking for solitude. The ferry takes you straight to Rüdesheim and you can explore the vineyards from there. A few quaint corners but generally much more modern than some of the more mediaeval centred towns. However pleasant to wander around and with a mile or so strip of parkland a long the river frontage. Good selection of restaurants including some on the waterfront. A number of boat trips available and only five minutes by ferry to the rather more picturesque Rudesheim. This latter has old cobbled winding streets, a cable car to an outstanding viewpoint and an apparently interesting mechanical music museum which however is fully booked on some days by tour parties.Guest review byAndrewUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We were right off the Rhein River and many of our group's rooms had great views and it was pretty quiet. I was on the 4th floor and had to bend over for a view. The hallway windows had great views of the castle behind us! The location was excellent and if we went on a ferry the stop was very close. We walked to dinner in the center of town.
