If you are going for shopping or to walk on the beach than you are in the right place. It has 2 big shopping moles and it has a nice place called Boa Viagem where I recommend you to go for some physical activity and even for a walk during the day. People are extremely friendly, but of course there is a lot of people bagging on the streets, the rich are too rich and the poor are extremely poor. I recommend you to go to the Capitão Gancho Pizzaria and Entre amigos o bode, both very nice places. The first one extremely local and the other one depends on which part of the restaurant you choose. Always take an uber specially if you don't speak the language. There are beaches "near by" 1h where you can swim with uber costing €21 or dollars one-way. Like for instance Porto de Galinhas Beach and city.Guest review byJorgeBelgium - 8.0
Porto de Galinhas is a charming place, especially at night...
Porto de Galinhas is a charming place, especially at night when the village really comes to life. The streets are full of little shops, local crafts, and great restaurants. One of our favorites was Restaurante Domingos – super cozy and perfect for a special dinner, with amazing seafood. If you're looking for something more affordable but still delicious, Trattoria is a great pick for pasta and Italian dishes. During the day, besides relaxing on the beach and visiting the natural pools, we also tried diving – it was such a cool experience, and you don’t even need to be a diver. Honestly, Porto has the perfect mix of laid-back vibes, good food, and fun things to do.Guest review byAna CarolinaBrazil - 8.0
The autorities have to do more to preserve the environment...
The autorities have to do more to preserve the environment but if open to tourism have to make the experience accessible to all. Who has problems of mobility should not select this location. Taking away the main road thar cuts the island, roads are very bad and majority of places non-existing, what exists is not well mantained like dirt roads or stone roads that even if historic have gaps that can make your body hurt all day. Plus all island is invaded by non-native plants that outcompete native vegetation, reduce biodiversity, and alter habitats. this Invasive plants, shade out sunlight and all island is covered by this vines, invading species, a carpet of green covering all trees and spaces... we have no ideia of what type of vegeation is native to the island. But, seas are clean taking away the beer cups all over the place. Bars should not serve beer with metal botle caps on. Or open and take it.Guest review byMadureira - 6.0
Olinda is odd in that it is lightly populated.
Olinda is odd in that it is lightly populated. For instance, there are a phenomenal number of churches in a very small area but (I imagine) way less people than there were historically, The beach is close by and nice. It is a stark contrast to Recife so close by. The minor basilica is worth a visit with it’s gold or nation.Guest review byPatrickUnited Kingdom - 6.0
Terrible access roads (really deplorable and primitive).
Terrible access roads (really deplorable and primitive). Streets full of holes (craters really) sleeping policemen which are incredibly high with no run up or run off (broke my car suspension there). It's just like, all of a sudden, a lump of concrete appears in the middle of the street, Awful, really awful. Expensive restaurants that serve very average and, sometimes, very poor food, no good, clean supermarkets general lack of shops. Deplorable health facilities. Would be much better off in Porto de Galinhas... Tamandaré wishes to compete with Muro Alto or Porto de Galinhas but, currently it's a good 10 years behind both places.Guest review byJOEM1Brazil - 10.0

A small town with a very beautiful beach. Perfect for relaxing, either as a couple or family. The weather was great even in winter! Tip: June and July are a bit rainy. August is better, and still cheap.Guest review byGuillermo AgustinArgentina - 10.0

Amazing historic centre (part repaired, part in state of ruin), a palace and arts centres so plenty to spend a day. With more time I would have headed out ot town to attractions 30-40 mins away. A bike tour was a good way to esplore the city. Recife combined with Olinda could be a 4 day tripGuest review byDianeUnited Kingdom - 2.0
Not as good as it was advertised or as it was since las time...
Not as good as it was advertised or as it was since las time I was there (2017). There were no Bathrooms for kids or woman or even man at all. The ones that supposed to work were totally out of work and indescribable, one space in the jungle was better than those. So no hygiene at all in the beach unless you go to a private area or restaurant which I didn't so don't know there either. Super crowded, the parking was worse than anywhere else I have visited in Brazil, the city and the beach both. The food (at the beach) was not good anymore, seems like didn't matter to make it well and even edible sometimes, I left after a little while trying to loose a bad taste of food on all of us somewhere else in the city that also had restrooms facilities for us to use. The PARKING IS NOT PUBLIC! This is very BAD, ANNOYING and UNCOMFORTABLE. It is controlled by individuals that charge you for nothing, just being there they kind of threaten people and families into paying them, and I mean anywhere you park is like that in the entire city and at the beach too. The City (Prefeitura), the Mayor or someone have to fix that. It is really a huge mess and unfair to tourists, also that parking money doesn't go to the city to benefit and improve roads or facilities. The place is a disaster in general. The small shops and restaurants still remained the only part worth visiting there, for food or souvenirs, to me the beach sucked and I will not return there for that experience again. PS: in the 4th section here I was asked: 4. What would you recommend Porto De Galinhas for? I couldn't select anything because the only I would say was Souvenirs and it wasn't listed, not even Nightlife unless you are a very young person 18-25 age. Not family oriented at night whatsoever, which is my case.Guest review byRaulUnited States - 10.0
I have been to different places around the world, Fernando...
I have been to different places around the world, Fernando de Noronha just got the number 1 spot right now! It is amazing during this time of the year (late August - beginning September), perfect place for diving with a great variety of sea life! Swimming/snorkeling from Praia do Porto to Praia do Cachorro was a wonderful experience, we got to see several turtles, octopuses, lobster, different fishes, nurse shark and we even got lucky when the dolphins came to us for a private show! And people it is all wild nature in balance! Scuba diving is also a great option, it was the first time for my wife, and she loved it, was her 2nd best adventure experience ever, only loosing for the one I described above, where the dolphins came to visit us and we swam with them! Getting around there is easy, there is only one bus line that goes everywhere every 30 minutes, also the most expensive taxi ride in the island, I believe is around R$ 50 (i.e.: less than US$ 10) On the low side eating at fancy restaurants are very expensive, a dinner for 2 at Xica da Silva restaurant without alcohol and no dessert was around R$ 450 (around US$ 80) which is very expensive for Brazilian standards. On the other hand there was a great restaurant called Valdenio Restaurant at Vila dos Trinta, where the food was also good (not fancy) and way more accessible, around R$ 70 per plate (around US$ 12), also at this restaurant it is the Paleta da ilha factory (local popsicle factory) which is really good an cheap (R$ 8 ~ US$ 1.5) try the CAJA Flavour!Guest review byHeraldoBrazil - 8.0
