Guesthouse Kyoto was a wonderful place to stay during our Kyoto visit for 5 nights. Everthing worked fine, the comminication via the app messenger was flawlessly and we found the stay in a more classical Kyoto townhouse a unique and worthwile experience. WiFi was easily accessible via QR codes found at the room and worked well. The guesthouse Team is very nice and also share their personal recommendations for possible cafes and dinner options. Additionaly, the location of the Guesthouse is very good since the vicinity is quite nice and quiet but also reachable by short walk from multiple bus stations.

Everything was so great. It is a ryokan which a lot of attention and love has been put into by Satako and her husband, we felt very at home and cared for. Would absolutely recommend staying here and would come back without question! The neighborhood is also very cozy and nice to walk around. We were sad to leave today!

It's a very relaxing and calming atmosphere, especially with the garden and incense. The breakfast is especially great, being able to try out different things every day, and if there is anything you don't like the staff will help as best as they can.

Absolutely the best place to stay in Kyoto if you plan on staying 4 or more nights and have a good amount of time(I ended up staying 4 extra nights and I wish I could have stayed more!). The location is great and within 2-3 minute walk to the bus stop, 2 supermarkets, a public onsen and even a few small hidden restaurants scattered around. The dorm is extremely comfy with a lot of privacy and extremely clean. The general atmosphere and aesthetic is also very relaxed and makes the hostel almost feel like a wellness retreat. The bed is comfy and is made for you(not always a thing in Japan) and the cabins even have an air filtration system. In addition the price when you stay long term is quite a bit cheaper. Overall this is such a unique and relaxing place to stay I would recommend it to anyone. Staying in a quieter part of town while a bit far from the main action has its own advantages: going to a local onsen, way fewer tourists and discovering parts of Kyoto others wouldn't.

This was my third stay at this lovely, quiet guest house. I stay in Kyoto ten times or more a year and this is one of my favourite accommodations. The owners are extremely kind and helpful. They always greet you when you return to the house and give you information about anything you want to know about Kyoto. The tatami room is spacious and clean; the bathroom is large; and there is a communal kitchen/dining room on each floor. It is in one of the most convenient places in Kyoto - walking distance to dozens of sights, near three train stations and close to buses that will take you all over the city. It is also on the edge of an area packed with temples and amazing restaurants. Will definitely stay again.

Located conveniently in Kyoto, Kokonoe Machiya has air-conditioned rooms, a garden, free WiFi and a shared lounge.

Great place. Amazing location and Tony, the host, made it so much easier and comfortable for all of us in there. It is clean and nice and they offer traditional breakfast that's incredible. It was an incredible experience to stay there and would definitely recommend it to friends and anyone else.
