Great and unique stay in Kyoto. Appreciate the effort the Guesthouse Kioto team to preserve these traditional machiya. I can feel and see the care of the place. I stayed 2 nights in their bunk beds (enjoyed the communal dining) and 2 nights on their private, traditional rooms, next building with separate entrance and love the whole experience. The bathrooms are shared but I have been using the recommended Onsen every night, must experience.

We had an amazing time at Ryokan Tori! The location is great, there are many temples and shrines to visit nearby, the ryokan was cozy and very authentic! I loved the tea ceremony and enjoyed having a hot bath in the evening. The breakfast was tasty too. The owner was very helpful and suggested us some places to visit. There are also two bikes you can rent at the ryokan! We decided to take the bikes to explore the nearby neighborhood and get a glimpse of everyday life in Kyoto. All in all, we had a very memorable stay :)

Guest House Kingyoya enjoys a location in Kyoto, 1.1 miles from Kinkaku-ji Temple and 1.5 miles from Imperial Palace.

It's a very relaxing and calming atmosphere, especially with the garden and incense. The breakfast is especially great, being able to try out different things every day, and if there is anything you don't like the staff will help as best as they can.

The staff treats guests in a very friendly and not distant manner. I particularly appreciate Abi-san for her HUGE help with my settling down in Kyoto. She is happy to provide information such as stores with good deals (extremely helpful for students). The location is ideal especially for whoever is going to study at Kyoto University. It's close to the subway, convenience store, Japan post bank, supermarket, and a telecommunication store. The whole guest house is nice and clean, with a very attractive Japanese atmosphere. I highly recommend students newly enrollment at Kyoto University to stay here for a while when finding rooms and so on. Independent tourists should also enjoy this place because of the traditional atmosphere and complete tourism guide information.

Toni was an excellent host - welcoming, approachable and knowledgeable about Kyoto's history, places of interest and restaurants. The hostel was so beautifully furnished and designed in a traditional Japanese style, which will feature well in anyone's social media post. Facilities were clean and well maintained. Certainly, this place is up there to be the best accommodation that I have stayed in.
