Dinner and breakfast were very delicious and homely. The ryokan has a retro feel but there are many modern features. The tv in the room allows us to check if anyone is using the family bath. We were able to enjoy the onsen twice during our one night stay. Although there is no shower in the room, it is easy to just go to any available family bath where amenities are provided. The room we had in the annex was huge. Futons were laid out in the bedroom and we could use the living area for our suitcases and lounging around.
The owners were very kind. I bought two packets of their sweet miso and didn't realize that I had forgotten to take them until I reached the next prefecture. The owner helped to arrange to send them to another accommodation.

Traditional authentic rooms and facilities. Great onsens. Food was the best i've had in a ryokan. Host's attention to detail and customer service was top notch. Fell asleep to the sound of the river outside my window. Simply the best.

The house is big with living room, dining, bedroom, toilet and bathroom seperately according to Japanese ryokan. The onsen comes with the perfect view of Yufuin city and mountains. The dinner and breakast were delicious and a lot. The staff was helpful and friendly. This was our perfect stay.

The rooms in this property are villa style. Our room was much bigger than expected, and the dressing/wardrobe has its separate room. Upon entering the room, we were welcomed by the fragrance of wood and there were umbrellas available at the entrance in case it rained. The staff can speak good english too.
The dining area was at the main lobby (which is a separate building). We get to dine in a private room with view of Mt Yufu - which was a plus point. To provide variety, they offered us western breakfast on one day and japanese breakfast on the other. The bread on the western breakfast was really good too.
The property is away from the crowd and I enjoyed the whole experience. Would love to visit again.

This was my first time staying in a traditional Japanese hotel and I loved every moment. The location is incredibly scenic. Dinner was delicious and huge, served in private rooms for each guests. We especially enjoyed the private hot tubs. I couldn’t believe our room it’s own onsen until I saw it!
The staff was nice. Room was clean and spacious.

The location is quite close to the train station, only 7 mins by walk. The staff guides us the way to both public and private hot springs, dinning room, and other facilities in the hotel.
The private hot spring is clean and comfortable.
The dinner is so yummy.
