Staying at Maria‘s guest house was like staying with a good friend. Maria is the most kind and warm person you will ever meet in Portugal. She and I sat and talked every day that I was there. The location is phenomenal. Literally you can walk out the front door, and walk through the access tunnel to get to the beach, in less than 5 minutes. At the beach, in the summertime you can pay 10€ to secure a lounge chair under a palapa umbrella with bar and food service. At the guest house there is no elevator, and you will have to walk up one flight of stairs up to your guestroom. My room had a portable air conditioner, and balcony facing the busy pedestrian alleyway full of restaurants and bars. All rooms have PRIVATE BATHS. There is a communal kitchen where guests are welcomed to prepare a lite breakfast if you bring food with you. I took the Rede bus from Lisbon to Albufeira, then jumped on a local bus, down to the edge of old town and it was easy. You can pay on the bus. I think it was 1.50 euro. Once you get off the bus, you’ll have to drag your luggage 10 minutes through old town to reach Maria’s guest house. No cars have accessibility into the old town area. It’s only by foot. When I return to Albufeira, I will most definitely stay at Maria’s Guest house…Highly recommend!!!

Haris was an amazing host. He was kind enough to pick us up from the train station and drive us to the apartment. He took the time to chat with us and shared recommendations on things to do and places to dine upon our arrival. He was also happy discussing life and cultures with us. He brought some delicious figs from his farm for us to enjoy on our journey. We would love to come back and have him host us again!

I was one of the first travellers to arrive for the season and they were still setting up the hotel, but they went out of their way to make certain that my room was able to meet my needs. The shower is great and the beds are very comfortable. The views are amazing and the breakfast is worth the cost

Casa dos Arcos is a very special manor house. Its a 300 years old palace built in the 18th century, where a noble family used to live.
