The hotel is located within walking distance from some very important historical landmarks (the Lisbon Cathedral, Saint George's Castle, the National Pantheon, the Rua Augusta Arch, etc.) and quite close to the main Rossio square. You have quite a lot of restaurants nearby, although transportation around Alfama (other than a couple of trams, including the historical 28E, and a bus to the castle) is relatively scarce. However, it wasn't an issue to get around on foot. While the hotel is in a very touristic area, the rooms are very well soundproof and you won't be bothered by the noise on the busy streets around. I'd say the rooms are about the right size (not too big, not too small), really comfortable, squeaky clean and the breakfast at the hotel was very good (quite a lot of options). The welcome gift (custard tarts, Ginja liqueur and a hand painted tile) were a lovely detail. To top it all off, the personnel was incredibly kind and helpful. Every single one of them. I think it is the best hotel I've have stayed in so far! If you are planning to go to Lisbon, you can't go wrong with them.

We love that this apartment was right in Alfama, directly downstairs was a small bakery/coffee shop. The apartment is away from the main street. It was nice to hear the church bell ringing now and day when we were inside. Interesting layout of the apartment but it worked for us 4 traveling with friends. There is no air condition so ceiling fan is a must during the hot summer days. There was a restaurant just right outside, it was nice that they close up before late. Noise level was minimal and for someone who is very light sleeper, this apartment worked out really well. We appreciate the host keeping in contact with us and trying to accommodate for a 3rd fan. Love that there was a washing machine available. We saw a parking structure about 5 min walk away, that was nice to know for future travel.

The location is amazing, right on the trolley 28 route in the centre of historic Alfama. We were met by the receptionist who spoke English and was kind and attentive. We arrived early and she locked our suitcases away so we could wander around.
