I stayed at Wayside Guesthouse in Chiang Mai for 3 nights, and honestly, I wish I could’ve stayed much longer. This was my first time staying in a guesthouse, and Jackie and her mom made it such a special experience—I truly felt at home. They were incredibly kind and helpful, assisting me with booking amazing activities like a Thai cooking class, an elephant sanctuary visit, and a national park tour. The breakfast was delicious every morning, and the atmosphere of the guesthouse was so peaceful and welcoming. I left with a full heart and a heavy one too. Khob khun kha mak mak, Jackie!

The hotel was in a great location so we could walk everywhere in the Old City. The Sunday Walking Market goes along our street so it’s super busy on Sunday night. The staff was exceptional; always welcoming and happy to ask about our day or offer suggestions of where to go. The beds were very comfortable and the room was clean with water and coke replenished in the fridge everyday if needed. Having fresh fruit, coffee and water available all day was great. We enjoyed the pool to cool off after a day out. Can’t say enough good things about Kiki, Tan, Pop, Pim, Dan and Momo at the front desk, they really enjoy their job; and the housekeeping staff were also great!

The room was clean and aesthetically beautiful. More beautiful than in 5-star hotel. Has bigger space as well. Great location. Walking distance to restaurants and 7-11 Pink Gate wherein there’s food stall set-up. The night market is just walking distance as well. Just 700m away from Wat Chedi Luang and Wat Panthao and on the other side 750m away from famous Neng Earthen Jar Pork Roast.

Exceptional little hotel with beautiful rooms and a fantastic pool. Very clean and tidy. Beautiful greenery in the garden was amazing. Nice, cosy balcony. Very helpful and extremely polite staff and everyone is ready to answer any question we have. Fantastic breakfast with a lot of options. Staff at breakfast buffet helped us to make authentic Thai dishes and they were lovely. Beautiful restaurant location and spotless. Tour organising was very easy with the front staff. Located in a busy area but unbelievably quiet. So many places to get street food and other things in just walking distance from the hotel.

Hotel is spotless and very well decorated. The bed was comfortable and we liked having water, tea and snacks included. Breakfast was a choice of several options that you order the day before and select a time. We look forward to staying again in the future.

No matter if you have been traveling for a while or if you just arrive in Thailand, staying with Pop and Ton is like staying with family. From the moment we arrived to the moment we checked out, everything was taken care of and looked after. From having our room cleaned and tidied up multiple times a day when we were out to them looking after our luggage when we were already checked out. The level of hospitality, attention to detail and just overall kindness is something we haven’t experienced before and don’t expect to find anywhere anytime soon. Highly recommend to stay here if you get the chance!
