This is a beautiful hotel with a rich history! The lady who checked us in late in the evening was incredibly friendly, helpful, and spoke perfect English, which is quite rare in Brazil. The rest of the staff was equally professional and kind throughout our stay. The room was very spacious—no view, but super comfy. The bed was huge and extremely comfortable. The room was clean, and the air conditioning worked quickly. However, the only downside was that the hot water in the shower took forever to flow. Breakfast was delicious, though it could have offered more vegetarian options. Overall, it was a fantastic experience right in the heart of the city!

Beautiful place, with large flowered gardens and tamed pets The building itself was made of all regional lumber, felt like an Alps setting 1 hour from Rio, a respite from the endless hassle. Petrópolis is a pretty, clean and a rich history of the Portuguese Empire presence in America. Cooler weather adds to the experience. My room was great, breakfast was plenty, but the highlight was their host's ongoing concern for my wellbeing over the three nights in the city.
