Nestled in a remote corner of the avaunt-garde Banpo International Art District, this unique and comfortable hotel is not out of place. Amongst the shops lie gem after gem of eclectic delight. Once inside the hotel, it is easy to see that it was designed with the surrounding artistic environment in mind. As the name of the hotel indicates, I found myself transported back to an earlier time upon setting foot in the lobby. I wanted to jump on one of the antique, 1940s, motorcycles and ride into the Chinese countryside. The vintage Harley Davidson especially enthralled my fancy. From the inviting minimalist features in the lobby to the spiral staircase that led to nowhere, we felt like time travelers. Our first interaction with the friendly staff set the tone for our entire stay, friendly and accommodating. We simply could not have asked for better service and treatment. One extremely friendly staff member was Phoenix. We felt that she was assigned to make our stay more enjoyable due to the fact that she spoke fluent English, but it is just as likely that this is just her level of service. There was no whim that did not become her command. She was so attentive. Honestly, I have never experience this level of accommodation. We chose the loft room, and either the first floor or the loft would have been perfect. The two together made it a five star stay. Two king-sized beds, plenty of couches and chairs to lounge around on, a working desk, a rainforest shower, and a tub big enough for two people, was more than we needed. The Walnut Tree restaurant in the hotel, named because there has been a walnut tree in the compound since before the hotel’s and restaurant’s inception, has some of the best food in Xian. And it is vegetarian and vegan friendly, a rarity in this city. The dishes were just as alluring and tantalizing to the taste buds as the art work in the district to the eyes. If you can only stay in one hotel while visiting Xian, this is the one you want to choose.

The hotel is amazing, in an old restored building. The location is good, staff is very polite and always trying to help. The breakfast is so good, a lot of options and fresh food.

Perfect Stay – Friendly Service, Comfortable, and Convenient Location! I had a wonderful stay at this hotel and highly recommend it for anyone visiting the area. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by an incredibly friendly and helpful staff who made me feel right at home. They were always smiling, eager to assist with anything, and their kindness truly stood out throughout my entire stay. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean and very quiet, providing a peaceful and comfortable environment. The housekeeping team was thorough, ensuring that the room was pristine each day. I was also impressed by the abundance of towels provided – more than enough for both bath and pool use, which is always a nice touch! One of the highlights of my stay was the breakfast. I’d rate it a solid 9 out of 10. There was a great variety of both Western and Chinese cuisines, so you could easily find something to suit your tastes. I particularly enjoyed the freshly made dim sum and the selection of Western breakfast staples like eggs, bacon, and pastries. It was a perfect way to start the day before heading out to explore. The hotel also features an amazing indoor pool, which was a real treat after a long day of sightseeing. The pool area is very clean and well-maintained, with both dry and wet saunas available for guests. The locker room facilities were spotless and offered everything you need for a comfortable experience. One thing to note is that you are required to wear a swim cap, which costs about $10 if you don’t bring your own. It's a small fee for such a great facility, and it made for a relaxing and refreshing experience. The location is also unbeatable. The hotel is right next to a mall with tons of food options and plenty of shops to browse, so you're never far from a good meal or some shopping therapy. If you need your coffee fix, Starbucks is just a two-minute walk away, which was perfect for me.

The location is close to most city attractions. It is close to Xi’an railway station so easy to catch the overnight trains to elsewhere.. even my highspeed train to Beijing was also from same station. I had left my wrist watch when i checked out the staff have informed me the same and are arranging it to be delivered to me to my beijing hotel.
