United StatesSuper cute historic building! We had sunlight-filled Japan style tatami mat room. The hostess was very friendly with excellent English. The restroom was spacious and clean. The hours of the in-house resturant were a bit limited but we made good use of the store across the street and others in town to supply all our needs after our very excellent 17:30 meal there. We got lucky and our room was ready when we arrived at 12:00 and we could leave all our things. We then enjoyed walking around the village until it was time for dinner.

Switzerlandvery traditional house made over 150 years ago in a beautiful part of the countryside. hosts were exceptionally kind - as were their children and welcoming. perfect scenic stop between takayama and shirakawa-go. beautiful shrine, most beautiful cherry blossom we have seen and scenic lake with fish. wonderful and comfortable stay - highly recommended!

The family that owns and runs the property were so welcoming and accomodating! The food was absolutely delicious, made from local ingredients and so many courses! Im sure I would have paid more at home just for the meals included. I also want to say that I appreciated their sustainability efforts as well, did not see any single use plastic throughout the entire property. Everything was exceptional, the installations, the personnel, the atmosphere, the location, simply, there are no words. The food is another part of the history. Yes, can be weird that the dinner is at 6 pm, but it has an explanation that you must experience by yourself. It was the most beautiful and memorable experience in our traveling life. They forage/hunt for the meals themselves, they do everything for the guests. It is also their family home. I am an architect, and what the family did with the design of the place exceeded expectations! The rooms are all top quality, overlooking the river or the gardens.
