The wonderful views and privacy …. Whilst it lasted, The property is set up for honey moon couples - much of it is over the top and kitsch but it has a certain charm When the neighbouring property is unoccupied it is simply brilliant … but when, as in our experience, a family with young children arrive everything changes. Having noisy kids jumping into the pool only a metre away destroyed any notion of tranquillity. If the property was not shared it would be simply blissful The access is terrifying … you will wish you had paid for your car hire company insurance excess!

A good location for a relaxing getaway in Arcos de Valdevez, Casa Maria da Eira is a vacation home surrounded by views of the garden.

The owner Elizabeth and her family were truly loving and kind. The food was clean, fresh, and amazing. My room had a Feng Shui simplicity. It was so calm with great energy, as was the entire property. The proximity to the Penada Geres National Park and all the adventures it has to offer. Elizabeth had excellent recommendations on trails and activities. I loved the dinners and conversation at the end of the day. I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to get away to the outdoors!

Brian and family were wonderful, helpful, gracious hosts. Our room was spacious and clean, opening into the garden. They prepared coffe for me early mornings, much appreciated! Breakfast was delicious and generous, including homemade bread and jams. After a mediocre dinner in the village, the next night we ordered dinner at the Quinta which was delicious and plentiful, a tasty and authentic experience (and reasonably priced) The place and grounds were beautiful, tranquil surroundings. Brian suggested a hike that was spectacular. I recommend this accomodation! (Be aware of narrow winding mountain roads to reach it).

From the first moment, our hosts made us feel welcome in their beautiful 16th century home. Our room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great; our host made us special treats every morning and offered fruit from her garden and homemade jam. The location is perfect; close to the river, river walk, shopping and dining. The view over the town is lovely. You will want to stay longer than you planned.

Everything was fantastic! From check-in, the bed and the breakfast. This place is gold! It’s rated as a 3 star hotel but feels more like 4! The properties garden opens up on a beautiful walking trail along the river. Staff is so helpful and friendly. Loved everything about this place.
