United StatesI am *so glad* we chose to stay here. This place is like an oasis of serenity. I loved the setting, surrounded by a huge tea plantation. I loved our large, quiet bungalow, which had comfortable beds, a great shower with an abundance of hot water, and a lovely patio where we could sit and watch monkeys cavorting. I also loved the onsite restaurant, which had the most amazing pumpkin/ginger soup and other delectable offerings. We took all of our meals there and were really impressed with the variety of offerings and the quality of every item we chose. Their African coffee is not to be missed! It was also so fun to relax over a great meal and watch through the windows the monkeys jumping around in the trees. Finally, I can't say enough good things about the staff. The property manager, Moses, was beyond kind and helpful. First, he met us with great cheer very late on the night of our arrival, when we had car trouble that delayed us from getting there from a planned 5pm until almost midnight. After getting us settled in, he arranged a nutritious and filling take-away breakfast for us to pick up at 4:45am the next day before our chimpanzee trekking, and gave us perfect directions to where we should meet our guide (which we had pre-arranged through the park). The following evening, when our new replacement car suddenly wouldn't start, he quickly and helpfully diagnosed the problem and fixed it for us himself so that we didn't have to miss our pre-booked night walk. Lastly, upon our departure, he recommended for us a wonderful restaurant and boat excursion in a lovely small town on the shores of Lake Kivu, a stop that ended up being an unexpected highlight of our trip. His kindness and helpfulness was truly above and beyond; he really made us feel like welcomed and valued guests.
