The ambience, atmosphere, and decor. It felt like stepping back in time into a more gracious and less rushed age. There was something very special about this hotel which I liked very much. The views towards Lake Siljan were lovely also. In addition, I liked the many black and white photos from the past, the comfortable and spacious lounge, the piano, and the coffee room with the selection of icecreams.

This property is set in a stunning location high on a ridge overlooking Tällberg. We set up a private tour (because it was off season) of Holmen Tällberg, which is just minutes away. Tällberg is a delightful small village on beautiful Lake Siljan. Well worth the visit.

Gagnef is centrally located in a small picturesque village. It is not far to places like Leksand, Rattvik (great Hemslojd store with a "museum" of older folk dresses upstairs), Nusnas, Mora (Anders and Emma Zorn home), Falun (Carl and Karin Larsson home), and the like. It is very nice to walk over to the Gagnef church and the floating bridge. The staff was wonderful and helpful! We had a great stay and would love to come back!
