Private onsen were available 24/7 with no time limit per use. Excellent place to stay in Kusatsu and I will definitely come back again to this facility

The 3-star guest house features quiet street views and is 15 km from Mt. Kusatsu Shirane. The guest house has parking on-site, a hot spring bath and a shared kitchen. Location, staff, kitchen/common area and the private onsen. Parking lot was plenty. The hostess let us check-in early even though we arrived relatively early. The rooms were traditional style with everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Boasting garden views, Ryutakuzenji 宿坊 offers accommodation with balcony, around 28 km from Usui Pass Railway Heritage Park. This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking. The ryokan has family rooms and facilities for disabled guests. We were travelling by train so it was very convenient for Tendou-san, the monk, to pick us up from the Takasaki train station for a reasonable additional charge. Tendou-san knew enough English to converse with us on the 30-minute drive to the hotel. The hotel is small and charming, next to the beautiful samurai temple and garden with a koi pond. The deluxe quadruple room was very large for just two people. The kotatsu table was a nice place to relax and be warm. The futons were very comfortable for sleeping. Like other reviews mention, some of the walls don't extend all the way up to the vaulted ceiling/roof, so there is potential for noise to pass in and out of rooms. However, we were the only ones there that night (others were dissuaded by snow forecast) so we had the whole place to ourselves. We had dinner and breakfast; both were delicious with large portions. We participated in the morning meditation. Tendou-san explained some history of the temple, initiated our meditation, and then left us to finish we felt ready to be done. It was a very nice experience that I would recommend to anyone!

This 4-star ryokan offers a lift and luggage storage space. The ryokan features family rooms. The room was cozy and comfortable! Loved the traditional rooms! The staff was very polite and friendly! Also helped us a lot when we had questions and showed us everything and what to wear etc. We just was unsure about the rules for tattoos bc we both had some (more anime/manga and animal tattoos) and we messaged the hotel before and they said to cover them or just use the private ones which we also reserved in advance (they was awesome!). But as we arrived there, the receptionist told us just some special Japanese tattoos are not allowed (forget the correct name for it but we guess the common yakuza ones). So we were able to use all public Onsens too what was really awesome! Bc we thought we just can use the private ones! It was also possible to order a veggie Menu!

A wooden building stemming from 100 years ago, the property breathes a historical atmosphere. The onsen is amazing, they all have a great atmosphere and they have a mixed one. Great dinner and breakfast too!
