Located 12.5 miles from Ahalanui Park in Pahoa, Hawaii, this bed and breakfast offers garden views and a free continental breakfast complete with homemade bread and jam. A full breakfast is $15. All guest rooms include free Wi-Fi. We had a wonderful stay at the Tropic Inn! Irene, the owner, is an amazing host, you can really feel that for her running this B&B is a dream come true. Every morning she prepaired a delicious breakfast with fresh fruit from her tropical garden, Kona Coffee, homemade marmelades, juice etc. She also served other local products like bread and yogurt. She gave us a LOT of really good tips, as she knows the island like a true Hawaiian or maybe even better... The room was very big and clean, the beds were comfortable and the shared bathroom was also perfect. Towels were changed really often, as there is a lot of humidity, but there was no bad smell at all, which was great being in the middle of the jungle. You can park the car in front of the house (yes, you definitely need a car to move around!!!) and wifi was working really good. The Tropic Inn is close to the last lava flow, which ist very interesting to see ("end of the road" nearby...). It is a really good location to visit the Vulcano national park and Hilo, amongst others. We definitely recommend this accomodation and wouldn't want to stay elsewhere on Big Island (we know, we have to come back;-))

Guests at the SCP Hilo Hotel can enjoy on-site dining at the Coconut Grill. There was complimentary coffee, tea, milk (+almond milk), cold/hot water 24/7. You could also take out beach cruisers/bikes and stand-up paddle boards for free any day. The staff were extremely friendly and gave us personal recommendations on how best to visit the Volcano National Park. They also gave us extra time to check out. They also have daily activities like live music, yoga, and lei making, all provided free of charge. There was also a nice view at the lobby of a koi fish pond with hammocks by the side with a nice, regular, breeze.

Breakfast is provided daily with locally sourced ingredients. The surrounding of the Inn is fantastic - you are just outside of Hilo, but it feels like you are in a middle of nature, so green and peaceful. The waterfall and the pool are amazing, with a nice round walking path. The food was delicious, with fresh pineapple for a breakfast.

Kaloko-Honokohau Historical Park is 5.5 miles away. Beautiful view of the ocean. Large 2 bed condo with plenty of room. Lovely gardens with pool and "beach" area with loungers and tables. Very clean and well maintained.
