We’re so happy we chose Akagera Ihema Lodges for our stay near the park. The view over the lake is simply unbeatable, and the setup of the cottage—with its walk-in shower and peaceful surroundings—made it the perfect place to relax. A big thank you to the amazing staff, who took such great care of us. They prepared breakfast boxes early in the morning for our game drives and served delicious meals each evening. Their kindness and attention to detail really made our stay special. Although we spent three nights here, we feel like we barely scratched the surface of how beautiful and peaceful this place is. We’d love to come back and enjoy it even more.

First off, this hotel is a hidden gem. Our tour company recommended their own suggestions and we were not pleased with them so we did our own research and I found this place. Wow! First off, it’s beautifully located right on Lake Kivu and is so relaxed and feels very safe with their own security. The room is beautiful, spacious, and has a great bathroom and patio. Moreover, the staff was outstanding and so attentive and communicative. And the food was outstanding on property. Breakfast is included so make sure to enjoy it. We also loved our dinner.

Vincent and all the staff were so friendly, and went the extra mile to make our very short stay, celebrating our wedding anniversary, so amazing and special. Attention to detail and warm hospitality, made our stay so special, and memorable. Stunning location and great service, highly recommended!

lovely stay, with lovely hosts who went out of their way to be friendly, kind, and helpful. the place is serene, perfect for working in Kigali. the room is basic and functional, while the gardens surrounding simply invite you to sit and work and rest. visitors should kno that there is no meal plan, but it is possible to order, each day, delicious meals prepared by the hosts.

This is a beautiful and secluded retreat, perfectly integrated with nature. It offers stunning views of the serene Lake Kivu, framed by lush green mountains and scenic islands. The management is incredibly welcoming and attentive to every detail, while the staff provides a familial and warm atmosphere. ​The food is delicious and exceptionally fresh, with ingredients sourced directly from the on-site farm. The hotel also offers fantastic activities, such as boat trips to nearby coffee plantations where guests can enjoy a hands-on coffee-making experience. Our room was comfortable, featuring a panoramic view, a private terrace, and a unique outdoor shower. ​This is a truly positive and life-affirming destination that respects its ecological surroundings. It's a place worth staying at for several days to fully appreciate its charm and natural beauty.

This is a unique property. Each guest has their own cottage with a very large bedroom, bathroom, and front porch. The property has a beautiful garden in back and a fire pit seating area in front. The food was excellent. And the location was ideal, close to Volcanoes National Park.

We really enjoyed our stay as the staff made us feels like we are in upper-class accommodation with their attention to details and kindness. I celebrated my birthday there, and they congratulated me with the beautiful cake before the start of gorilla trekking. Excellent service and attitude.

Amazing location next to the park, super friendly and helpful staff, very tasty dinner. The rooms are completely new and beautiful. Unfortunately we only stayed one night and could not use the pool, but it looked clean and with a nice view.

I and my Husband spent 1 night at Ruhondo Island retreat,The tented room with a jungle view is lovely. Clean, cool green roofs, a mix of tradition and modern styles—I really loved it. The other facilities, such as wifi and the breakfast room, were all first-class. The location—OMG, can you get how great the island hotel is for full relaxation and being quietly safe? PERFECT. Excellent service. From the moment we arrived at the parking lot and got a boat, the staff was extremely courteous. They also helped us to book a good tour hike Mount.Bisoke in Volcanoes National Park with their professional tour guide. The food was very good and sumptuous.Other attractions: The hotel has a free wifi connection. They also have a greenery garden designed for reading books with scenery from nature and Lake Ruhondo.The rest... well, Musanze is a beautiful city with so much to see and do, and this hotel just complements and completes a wonderful experience.
