The tent was spacious and clean, offering a comfortable and cozy atmosphere in the heart of nature. The staff were absolutely amazing – so kind, welcoming, and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. The highlight of the evening was the delicious vegetarian dinner, which was fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared. Overall, it was a perfect blend of adventure and comfort, with excellent service and great food. Also the jeep provided for the safari was very comfortable, making the whole trip even more enjoyable .

We loved the accommodation, with a beautiful terrace at the front overlooking nature and the sunset. The owner was helpful in arranging a safari and for advising restaurants in the neighbourhood for take away (so we could it with the beautiful view). The sanitaire was clean.

We loved our stay, the room is spacious and clean. The surroundings are uniques. Staff was very nice and the dinner was delicious. The safari experience was priceless!

We arrived at the camp in the evening and it looked beautiful with all the lights, the room was really comfy it it has a really nice camp / jungle / safari vibe. We had an amazing 4 course dinner and got to try making hoppers too, Ruwan was a lovely host. We did the safari in the morning with Nikki and went through the less busy entrance to block one really close to the camp. We saw a leopard and sloth bear, elephants, water buffalo’s and loads of birds. Nikki is really informative and was a great guide, he knew so much! We also had a packed breakfast which was delicious! They also let us check out a bit later so we had time to shower when we got back. Definitely the best experience you can have for a safari in Yala!

We initially thought this booking would be similar to other standard camping sites, but we were delighted to discover that this is genuine mobile camping inside Yala National Park—a truly unique offering. We understand that securing the necessary government permissions is a lengthy process, often requiring at least a week's advance notice. Although we made our reservation just one day prior, the team worked hard to coordinate everything. While this meant we had to wait a few extra hours at the main gate, the effort was absolutely worthwhile, providing an amazing, lifetime experience deep in the wild. We enjoyed a full-day and a half-day safari, and during both excursions, we were lucky enough to consistently spot leopards, elephants, and a wealth of other animals. The entire experience was incredibly rewarding, and we are 100% satisfied with our choice. Thank you to the dedicated team for taking such great care of us during our stay inside the park.

Seriously, if you're looking for the perfect spot to run away with your partner, look no further than Podi Hoona Safari Camp! This place is a dreamy romantic getaway. Forget busy hotels—it feels like you have the whole bush to yourselves, offering the most wonderful secluded privacy to just switch off and unwind. The highlight? The staff set up a beautiful candlelit dinner under the stars for us. It was incredibly intimate and cozy—honestly, pure magic! The whole camp has such a lovely, intimate atmosphere. It's truly a place where you can relax and unwind completely. We absolutely loved every second!

This was easily our top stay in Sri Lanka. The host was incredibly hospitable, he spoke great English and overall made our Yala experience so wonderful. Communication was always quick and easy. Also whenever we wanted to go somewhere he offered to take us in his tuk-tuk, which made getting into town easy. The breakfast was exceptional, we got to try lots of different Sri Lankan dishes, fresh fruit, omelets, toast and spreads and fresh mango juice, fresh from their many mango trees on the property. We also got dinner here one night and we were expecting just some curry and rice but we were blown away with the feast that came. Starting with a Sri Lankan soup, then came rice and curry with a whole bunch of other Sri Lankan dishes to try and then we finished off with a Sri Lankan dessert - curd and palm syrup. The room was clean and spacious and nicely decorated. We ended up being upgraded due to being the only guests during those nights. The WiFi worked well in the room, and porch area where we were served breakfast and dinner. We were also here a day after the cyclone had finished and so the national park ended up being closed. However our host was quick to organize another Safari tour just outside the park. This was such a great experience, we saw so many animals and got to go to a local temple / hill view point looking out over the national park. We were so grateful to still be able to do something despite not getting into Yala. Overall if we could rate this stay higher we would. We highly recommend staying here if you are planning on coming to Yala.

The house you get to stay in is simply incredible, secluded and gives an absolute Safari feeling! It is very big and the bathroom is great. We've had the most amazing hosts that were incredibly attentive and supportive. For a little extra, you can book a BBQ including a bonfire under the stars, which we can highly recommend! The food and service was outstanding. Something i am so thankful for - they will contact you already before your travel and during our texts to arrange everything I mentioned that it was my best friends birthday. They were so kind and offered to have a cake ready for her with her name on it for her special day.. Thank you so much for the effort! We really appreciate that. Lastly, the Safari was amazing! We drove with Indika and he was the perfect Safari guide. He stopped for us whenever possible, tried to make sure we see the most animals and explained everything in detail to us. We can only recommend taking a tour with him! If you plan on doing a Safari in Yala and want to experience a Safari like housing - this is the place to do so! Highly recommend and we'd definitely would come back. Lastly, if you plan on doing a Safari, we suggest to do the full day one :)
