Mr Kawasaki was a truly exceptional host who went above and beyond to ensure we had the most comfortable stay possible - and we did! Upon arrival he took much time and care to give us plenty of details about the area despite it being a little late at night and the language barrier was easily remedied with translation apps, however he spoke enough English to get by simple conversations too. He has very good knowledge of the area which was greatly appreciated by us and he is so friendly. The rooms were so cozy and safe, locks were on the room doors and we were given a key - for any solo female travellers this stay felt really safe for me even though I was travelling with my partner, I would recommend for anyone! The amenities are exceptionally clean. There is a shared bathroom but again, very clean. There are two floors and each floor has its own sinks/mirrors which was nice for us being on the top floor we didn’t have to go downstairs to brush teeth etc. There was laundry which Mr Kawasaki kindly handled for us while we were out enjoying Aso. There was also a microwave and beverage fridge in the shared dining area. This stay really impressed us and we will definitely be back! Also, he has a golden retriever named Reo who was very cute and friendly (he loves cuddles). Thank you again Mr Kawasaki, we loved our time in your home!

Located in Minami Aso in the Kumamoto Region, 10 km from Naka-dake, Hotel Yumeshizuku boasts a hot spring bath and sauna. Each room at this hotel is air conditioned and features a flat-screen TV. The views and location were sublime. As soon as we arrived the staff went out of their way to make our stay special in every way. The food was also amazing and the onsen was relaxing. A highlight of our trip to Japan

Very spacious penthouse apartment that has access to rooftop terrace with street and Mt Aso view. We enjoyed going up the rooftop terrace to just chill, read a book, have a drink and enjoy the Kumamoto weather. Deck chairs, chairs and table provided too. Heating, ventilation and lighting is sufficient for comfort in all seasons. The place is tastefully decorated and super well equipped kitchen like a good quality home. The bar counter with bar stools and large dining table are great for hosting a get together. There are board games, big TV, a set of golf clubs and putting mat for use. Many cans of beer were provided in the fridge for our consumption. Bathroom is big and the bathtub fitted 2 persons very comfortably. We had a very enjoyable and comfortable stay. Host was helpful and precise with instructions that made check-in very smooth. Definitely a Value-for-money place which we will return to!

Love the wooden structure of the property. It is super spacious, and quiet. The host had provided good direction as to how to navigate to the property, making life easier for me travelling there by car (especially in the dark). The kitchen had all the utensils I needed to prepare a good decent dinner for my family. The host also kindly provided some complimentary gifts for our stays. Thank you.

If you have a car, location is excellent with a separate Onsen only steps away, where they offer public and private rooms. It's also convenient to get to the trails of Mt Aso and other local sightseeing. The home itself if wonderful with 2 bedrooms upstairs (1 western, 1 tatami mats), and a full bath on main level with kitchen, dining, living, and many electronics available to use. They are even very generous with some supplies in the refrigerator (which we greatfully used as we forgot to buy Mayo at the store) and access to some shochu (which we conservatively sampled a few of the open bottles). The views are wonderful and we were there in the autumn and you could see the colors of the valley. We would HIGHLY recommend. We did exploring and hiking during the day and returned home to Onsen and then end the day with board games. It was perfect!

Loved the free access to a nearby onsen. The owners were very friendly and kind. It was a bit cold in Hitoyoshi, but they provided a few amazing warm blankets, heated carpet, and a heater. They also had an air purifier in the room. All the amenities were great! My father lives in Hitoyoshi, so I'll be using them again in the future!

From even before we arrived, everyone we spoke with from the ryokan was incredibly helpful and accommodating. When we arrived, it was such a welcoming check in and very thorough. Our room was beyond what we expected, perfectly clean, much larger, great views, we couldn't ask for anything more. Our dinner and breakfast was beautiful and delicious, and the staff even helped me get a cake and local sake for my husband's birthday as a surprise! The onsen itself was perfect and so easy to operate. The location offered so much too that we loved exploring Mt. Aso and other local sites before we arrived. We wish we could've stayed even longer.
