Situated in Yufu, 48 km from Crasus Dome Oita, 旅館 竹屋 Takeya features accommodation with a terrace, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar. The location was perfect for me, 10 minutes walking from the train / bus station and on top of a light hill, so the view from our room was incredibly nice. (This also means that if you are going on foot you have to walk uphill, no big deal for us, but if you have heavy luggage it could be difficult). Both dinner and breakfast were japanese-style, but not too traditional on both taste and texture (I say this as a plus, because my partner is not keen on super traditional Japanese cooking and still managed to eat most of his breakfast). We were also offered non-meat options beforehand, which is great! The building is a mixture of western and japanese styles, so for example the common room has high tables and chairs and a parquet, while the rooms have tatami. Everything was lovely, the common area had a beautiful terrace with a view, our room had a small balcony with outside seats and a private onsen bathtub. The owner is a very nice man and we chatted during dinner. We speak good enough Japanese, so language wasn't a problem, but the owner also speaks good enough English and is very helpful. We had free access to coffee, tea and water from the common room and two complimentary water bottles in the room.

Good size for two pax. We ate in almost every other day. Simple kitchenware was provided. The scenery was simply amazing - so peaceful and quiet. Felt like a homestay experience. Great base to explore the Aso region.

Situated within 4.5 km of Nakamura Art Museum and 5.7 km of Japan Spinning Top Museum, THE Retreat provides rooms with air conditioning and a private bathroom in Iizuka. We loved everything about our stay! The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The room was very comfortable and spacious enough for our family of 5. The tub on the porch was amazing. Grilling out on our front porch was very fun and the heaters made it nice and warm even in winter. We enjoyed morning yoga, fire pit s'mores and the free drinks and mocktails from the garden kitchen. There is an incredible park within walking distance. So much fun!

Offering a garden and quiet street view, Himawari is situated in Minami Aso, 36 km from Suizenji Park and 39 km from Kumamoto Castle. A big 10 for everything! For the host, the service, the house, the surrounding area etc...The village is situated in a wonderful setting, especially if you like hiking or biking, don't hesitate to go to this wonderful place, you will never regret it!

Delicious breakfast and dinner, spacious room, good facilities and very kind staffs. Especially the staffs, we arrived there in windy and cold day. They let us early check in without any surcharge and helped us to make reservation for next day trip. They were so nice and kind. It was very good experience there for my family thanks to the staffs. Highly recomended !!!
