Situated within 4.5 km of Nakamura Art Museum and 5.7 km of Japan Spinning Top Museum, THE Retreat provides rooms with air conditioning and a private bathroom in Iizuka. We have a nice day in the Retreat. Although the weather is not good on the day of arrival (so heavy rain), but we got a happy day in the tent and we enjoy the delicious BBQ so much . The staff Mr. Siu Chi Yung is so nice and he help us to play the fireworks outdoor, the kids are so happy about that . He also help us to arrange the tennis court when we needed help. Thank you so much , Mr. Siu Chi Yung ☺️

Offering a garden and quiet street view, Himawari is situated in Minami Aso, 36 km from Suizenji Park and 39 km from Kumamoto Castle. Mr Kawasaki was a truly exceptional host who went above and beyond to ensure we had the most comfortable stay possible - and we did! Upon arrival he took much time and care to give us plenty of details about the area despite it being a little late at night and the language barrier was easily remedied with translation apps, however he spoke enough English to get by simple conversations too. He has very good knowledge of the area which was greatly appreciated by us and he is so friendly. The rooms were so cozy and safe, locks were on the room doors and we were given a key - for any solo female travellers this stay felt really safe for me even though I was travelling with my partner, I would recommend for anyone! The amenities are exceptionally clean. There is a shared bathroom but again, very clean. There are two floors and each floor has its own sinks/mirrors which was nice for us being on the top floor we didn’t have to go downstairs to brush teeth etc. There was laundry which Mr Kawasaki kindly handled for us while we were out enjoying Aso. There was also a microwave and beverage fridge in the shared dining area. This stay really impressed us and we will definitely be back! Also, he has a golden retriever named Reo who was very cute and friendly (he loves cuddles). Thank you again Mr Kawasaki, we loved our time in your home!

Very good hotel with excellent public spa facility. Food was particularly good. The staff were all very helpful and pleasant.

Boasting an open-air bath, garden and views of mountain, Ikkoten is situated in Yufu, 50 km from Crasus Dome Oita. This ryokan offers free private parking and full-day security. The lovely Ryokan is nestled in the mountains with beautiful scenery and views of the changing colours of the mountains, clouds and sky at different times of the day. Enjoyed the private onsen with forest views and the public open-air onsen with mountain views.

SEKIYA RESORT Terrace Midoubaru is located a 15-minute drive from JR Beppu Station and boasts guestrooms with a semi open-air bath. Guests can soak in the hot spring bath. The room was phenomenal, from the amazing view of Beppu from the terrace to the private onsen overlooking the city below. The staff was incredibly nice and thoughtful and catered to our every need. Probably one of the best experiences I've had in Japan! To top it all off, the restaurant serves amazing food in an intimate setting.
